Normally I read new volumes as soon as they come out, but I need to wrap up a few things and catch up on another book club first. Might take a week or so.
I’m tempted to read ahead, but equally this week’s reading ended at a pretty good (and quite satisfying) break point. So I think I’ll wait until I’ve at least caught up with everything else. Which is likely to be after this volume is done anyway.
When reading chapter 189, I realized that the manga is no longer going easy with furigana. I remember thinking in earlier volumes that it gave slightly more furigana than most manga. But now this chapter included 繭 without furigana. Thankfully I recognized it and remembered the meaning (the context was also helpful), so I was able to look up the reading from that. But I didn’t remember the reading at all and was surprised it didn’t provide furigana.
I did end up reading the whole volume But the below comments are just for up to where the club’s at!
Story comments
It felt good to watch Louis get knocked around. I was at the edge of my seat seeing if he was going to succeed in creating a brainwashed adult Louise. Unfortunately he was okay, but this is the sort of story where the good guys don’t want to kill anyone, so I guess it’s for the best.
And then Patrick saves the day! With a giant heart I’m so glad he’s come into his own.
Crazy developments this week! I thought Mia drank more coffee when Sara visited Edward, so I’m not sure when she got her memories back. Also, she’s a murderer???
So it was Anthony’s plan to get into Shadow House for revenge. I’m guessing his family didn’t know about the memory erasure, and it was Mary Rose undoing his brainwashing that put him back on track. She accidentally opened Pandora’s box
I went back to read Kate’s backstory. Her mom was pregnant for 50 years. How is Anthony so young if he’s her brother? If it was the same deal with his gestation taking longer, then I’d expect him to look like a shadow too. I guess we’ll find out next volume. I’m also interested to see how he figured out Kate’s identity, but the answer may turn out to be he’s just that smart
Anthony brainwashing all the kids was horrifying, but sick at the same time. Holy cow. And the slashed neck Edward noticed on Margarette’s body was a clue he left intentionally! This guy is unstoppable.
I guess it’s time to make Emilico drink water until she pukes again And then do the same to all the other kids?
Kate’s mom’s pregnancy took so long because she was attacked by a shadow while pregnant. Presumably Anthony was born from a normal pregnancy. I’ll admit that I was also a little surprised that he wasn’t the grandson instead of son of Kate’s father, but it’s not like there’s a time limit on when men can reproduce. I guess mister head of Mira house found himself a young wife in his old age.
