Yen Press gives “Ahhh, I seem to have a gun to my head.”
ちょっと doesn’t always refer to a pause or quantity, it can mean “somewhat” or “sort of”, which is where they got “seem”.
For this, they gave “There, you see? Vengeance never solves anything, does it?”
Question marks aren’t native to Japanese (they’re a pretty recent addition), so sometimes they’re applied to what we’d consider an indirect question or something rhetorical.

A terminal small っ is a bit like an exclamation point. えっ is pronounced “eh!?”, and means basically the same thing as in English: “What!?”
Depending on context, it might be loud or soft: “What the hell!?” vs. a murmur of startlement.

I found it to be one of the easier too! Simply cause the images was so descriptive, as mentioned, you could probably enjoy it even if you couldn’t read any Japanese =^_^=

Pretty good. A few of those lines are a bit different to how I would have phrased things, though, even for a literal translation.
Page 35: dad’s line is “Yeah, I saw”.
Page 36: You can give your excuses in hell.
Page 37: “Huh!? A different person!?” is being spoken by Jumbo
Page 42: そうですねー is also something "hmm, let’s see…', especially with that drawn-out ねー
Page 52: “the water’s run out” - 無くなる is a word in its own right, not just ない＋なる

- Page 35: It’s そうだな, so that seems to be acknowledging what Yotsuba saw. (will update)
- Page 36: It has 聞く for (to hear/listen/ask), so I think I’ll leave it as-is.
- Page 37: You’re right! It has a kanji in it, so it can’t be Yotsuba. The text is also slightly thinner than Yotsuba’s.
- Page 42: Yup. Will update.
- Page 52: Yup. Will update.
- Page 54: “Little Ms. Killer” though~
I like “little hitman” too. Gonna leave as-is.

Fair nuff. I confess I didn’t see the “little” on first reading.
On a related note, I kinda think “Asagi: She died.” on page 55 is Yotsuba saying “I died”. The lack of a tail on the speech bubble makes that little difficult to tell, though Yotsuba does use tailless speech bubbles when onscreen on page 49.

I wasn’t sure about who said that one, but I think you’re right. Due to the lack of kanji, it’s Yotsuba.
I’ve thought about that a lot!
I don’t want to stop, so I guess it will just mean a lot of dictionary work and frustration!
Perhaps this reading group will continue to vol.3 as well, that’d be great if it happens!

Well, for my part, I’d hope that we’re building towards the ability to read independently and ask questions about more nuanced things (like that whole た form discussion in the last chapter) as time goes on.
If vocab is still a major barrier by the end of volume 3, that would seem to point to gaps in peoples’ learning.

On page 35 Yotsuba’s dad says: 座って見てろ
“Sit down and watch”
My question is about the ろ. Which I understand is used to give orders.
BobaGakusei’s polite adaptation leaves off the ろ and leaves it at that.
But what could you add to fill the command funtion here in polite Japanese?
ください?
My guess here is -なさい, and I found a discussion that seems to back it up: grammar - What's the difference between なさい and てください / でください? - Japanese Language Stack Exchange
The top answer also specifically mentions the ろ suffix as a contrast.

The first response covers this pretty comprehensively, but the concept is somewhat alien from an English perspective, since it can apply to services and intents, as well as objects. You might want to find a summary of the Japanese giving/receiving model and read through it once. And then become confused, but it’ll make more sense every time you encounter it while reading.
