Btw, if we’re going with Coco I’d like to present… Cifuri.

Not sure it also works with the regular ruby (=furigana) commands, but there’s a user script for adding furigana in a very straightforward way where you can just enter any characters (incl. Roman) as ruby characters.

Looks like I accidentally left out the slash in my close-ruby tags, which caused… interesting things to happen when you quoted me.

I was 12 watching MTV on my 15" CRT again for 3:46. What a trip.

Wow

That made me a bit uncomfortable too, and now I wonder how political this manga is gonna end up being. (I forgot already but did they say magicians pass it on to their kids, or do they normally choose their apprentices?) Either way it’s messed up: if it’s their kids then it’s a reflection of class power in the rral world. Those kids didn’t do anything to deserve it besides be born to certain parents. And if they choose their apprentices, then obviously they’re not gonna choose anyone with different beliefs who might threaten their control over the world. So then it ends up like you said, with a group of people who share the same very specific beliefs, using their power to enforce those beliefs onto the rest of the world.

…Is this gonna be Attack on Titan 2.0?

more speculation on that magicians world-order angle

I’m also super curious about what the “normal” process is, I don’t think it’s been described. And my thoughts have gone in a slightly different direction. In the thought experiment presented so far in the manga: what if the “good magicians” really did manage to avert a lot of suffering by sequestering magic? The beneficial effect of this might only last 1 generation, because by what mechanism does the 2nd + generation fully understand and cooperate with not cheating when you hold such ultimate and far-reaching power? Who is the ultimate judge or arbiter, and what stops someone from deleting their memory? For those who saw and lived through the motivating catastrophe, it’s an easy sacrifice to make, but I’m wondering if this is the story of the new order when 2nd or 3rd generation + magicians go rogue or even just change things with the best intentions and it all goes wrong.
