Without spoiling anything, why did zoro use the prononciation ばっけい for 抜剣 (drawing swords) in episode 1027 of One Piece?
in the dictionary and in other contexts I’ve seen, this is always pronounced as ばっけん.

Not sure if you told us the correct episode (also without time mark it’s harder). I had a short scrap through the episode, but around the mark your progress bar shows couldn’t find the relevant scene.
I expect you to just mishear it, since it’s in the middle of battle and the VA probably didn’t enunciate everything perfectly.

Sorry for the confusion, it is the right episode but I took a screenshot from YouTube, that’s why it’s misleading. In the actual episode (1027), this scene happen at the end around 18:30 mark.
You’re not expecting clear enunciation from a guy who’s got a sword in his mouth, are you?

lol, actually I found the answer, apparently it’s a play-on-word for a popular 落語 called 地獄八景亡者戯 (じごくばっけいもうじゃのたわむれ). So Oda intentionally changed the pronunciation to have it match the part after 地獄. Quite interesting eh?
