Over these last few levels I've had situations where reviews become available at inconvenient times. For example, in one case, I had a block of available time to review (4-6 pm), during which very few reviews were available, followed by a block of time where I wasn't going to be able to do any reviews (6-8 pm). The next level would have unlocked at 6:15 pm. It would have been nice to unlock the next level at 4 pm instead.
In another case, I've had blocking reviews coming due at 1:30 am. For vocabulary, it doesn't matter much to me whether I move something from master to enlightened in an extra day, but for rate-determining blocks (especially radicals), I'd like to be able to advance those items that are holding back new material. This is probably most applicable to items just about to guru, where the difference between 2d23h and 2d20h (or 3d23h and 3d20h) has only a negligible effect on retention and a disproportionate effect on progress.
It's not feasible for a user to hack the WK servers just to speed up your reviews a bit ;p
Maybe install the Ultimate Timeline script so you can see when each set of reviews comes up, and either plan your day around that schedule, or be more mindful of the time you do reviews, so it better fits your schedule.
kurseddragon said... Is it possible to making the readings show up before meanings for lessons in a script? What do you mean exactly? Instead of using tabs, just put the blocks of information below each other ?
Perhaps even changing the meaning showing up beneath the radical/kanji/vocab to the reading (though I think that requires a lot of extra work).
Edit: Found /t/Userscript-Wanikani-Lesson-Tab-Transmutation/12189/1 this. Oops.
Maybe more simply hiding the meaning underneath? Might still be nice.
Attempting to learn from reading -> meaning is difficult when the meaning is being shown in bold letters.
(I know there's only a few people who would actually want this, but it would be a QOL change for me personally :P)

This question probably comes from the fact that most of us don't have the tech skills to know how any of this stuff works. As far as I'm concerned, it's all black magic. Useful black magic that is on my side.
AlexAlex said... I am probably echoing many posts, but I would really like a script that would get rid of the 'lol you learned this reading before'. Even in compound words, I would like a refresher as to how Wanikani let me remember the kanji readings in the first place. Instead of 'lol you should know this idiot' I would like a refresher. Either that, or a script that would let me send items back to apprentice (1), when I do not remember it at Enlightened (7), instead of waiting for it to come up again in a few months when I do not remember it now.I attempted to resolve this a few months ago. I was thinking about replacing all the Japanese in the reading/meaning info to link back to a WK info page, but it proved to be more tricky than I anticipated (I had very little time to work on it then).
I have a very fluctuating job in which a stretch of months I can study multiple times a day to when I can study at most once every few days. I feel like this is a fundamental issue with Wanikani for the working folk.
Would that be sufficient to solve your issue?
Don't get your hopes up though. I'm just fishing for some input that I'll put to use when I have some more time to make user scripts.

I don't have the hacking skillz for that anyway, and moreover, I think it would be a bit rude to the lovely pirate known as Viet!
(Apologies in advance if the extension I’m about to request already exists, or if it has been extensively requested before. After searching for a while, I found neither such an extension or anyone requesting it.)
So, I was introduced to WaniKani by a guy who had over a 1000 burned entries. Yet, I noticed that when he watched some of the low level stuff I was doing at the time, there were readings and meanings that he had forgotten - items he had long ago burned. So I quickly realized that Burned items too fall the risk of being forgotten, en masse, due to lack of practice. Of course, we never get to practice them again via WaniKani, because they get removed from our review queue for ever.
This could be, and in fact should be, compensated for through “real-life” exposure to the Japanese language in text and audio, via books, websites, movies, podcasts, or whatever you prefer. But it would still be great to be able to resort WaniKani as an all-purpose, “ultimate” Kanji reviewing tool - and be able to review long-time Burned items as well, just to see if I still remember them.
I would love to have an extension/app that would, at the least, sort my Burned items into a separate review pile (EDIT: found it). But what I really want is an app that provide a special review sequence for burned items where a correct submission requires me to list all the WaniKani readings and meanings for each individual Burned Kanji. A Super Sayan sort of mode for masochists that want to make sure they know their stuff.
Anyone else with me?

This wouldn't actually change the time limit, it would just allow you to give your answer at a more convenient hour.
I don’t know if this API or third party apps already implemented or not.
But I want app that allows you to review Burned Items.
personally I don’t pay attention to design or such.
If it’s implemented it’ll helps a lot, because the higher the level, the more you forget(maybe)about the lower level ones.
Thank you
I’d like to request a simple userscript that gets a random Kanji that you’ve already unlocked, and then displays 3 Kanji with the same On’yomi. xMunch was helpful enough to give me the breakdown of what I would need, but I’m terrible at programming. The basic idea is:
gather the data for the readings in a database.
select random item
select a reading from its list
find all that share the same meaning and pick 3 at random
if found
supply to webpage
else
repeat
or
store the readings and how often they come up (“hits”) in a separate table.
Pick a reading from that table that has 4 or more “hits”
Pick 4 from the item table
Supply to webpage.
Here’s a picture of what I envisioned.

Thank you in advance if anyone can help me out.
I think highlighting items where the user has made a note on them in the review summary would be good. Often want to call attention to something even if I got it right if I wasn’t very sure of my answer beforehand, this kind of thing would help me do that if I’m doing a lot of reviews and likely to forget which it was by the end. I can just make a note on it so it will be marked for me at the end.
I actually had a dream a few nights ago where I was doing WK vocab reviews ordered by the kanji that’s in there (you know, like 大きさ followed by 大きい, 大した, 大人… I still struggle with these whenever they come up), and I could see the pattern and find my own way of distinguishing one from another. Is there a script, or could there be, that would allow me to reorder reviews like that?
Hi, i am new here so i don’t know much, but i want to ask, if there is a tool to “force review” an item?
I mean i like how it has this intervalls 8h,24h etc. but i now failed twice a word i know 100% in reading and in meaning. It just was a typing mistake and for that i have to wait 8h+24h again now. being stuck at 88% (an other kanji I didn’t remember so i recognize that i have to wait for it 32h) with a 32h penalty sucks hard. If this continues in higher levels i think i will break.
I wouldn’t even mind being able to set an item to “guru” and being tested like it was still “apprentice”.

Just browse the userscript list by shotgunlagoon. If you want to somehow "force" items to come up sooner then the SRS allows (for whatever reason), then no, that's not possible.

Requesting a script or line of code that can be added to an already existing script that allows you to reorder reviews by SRS. I tend to spend a little extra time making sure that I successfully burn each term as they come around. As this slows down reviews sessions, it would be nice to push them to the back of the review queue so that I can focus on newer terms. Thanks in advance to anyone who decides to take up this request.
A plugin for ignoring cards.
Usage:
You can ignore a card, during reviews or on the details page of the card. An ignored card will then not show up in the reviews anymore. Somewhere there should be a list of all ignored cards, where you can put them back into lessons or directly into the review cycle.
Why:
Sometimes you just don’t get the card, maybe because the lessons were not detailed enough or maybe because you think the usage is very seldom. Seeing those cards in reviews all the time makes you lose focus on the cards where you can really learn something new and useful.
I’d love a script that make Wanikani (and Satori Reader, please) show Japanese characters instead of Chinese ones. I’ve seen that, at least on the forums, Chinese variants are displayed instead of Japanese ones. I don’t know whether it occurs in other places. I’m on Chrome (I’m aware that Firefox among others has no issue with that).
I’d had 端 and 際 going through my reviews literally over 100 times each before I coincidentally saw them next to each other in the same review session, realised they’re really not at all alike, made up a very simple mnemonic for the difference between them and haven’t failed either of them since.
I feel like I have scores if not hundreds of similar items that I’m just not getting rid of because I’m “leaving them to the SRS” when I think it would actually be much more worthwhile to wheedle them out, focus on them and reevaluate my mnemonics / understand why I’m getting them confused and finally properly learn them.
So…I was wondering if anyone knew either of an already existing script or if it would be possible to use the API to make a list of items you have seen more than, say, 20 times?
Could anyone write a script that always opens up item information after an answer?
