Well, Akamatsu showed up again but otherwise it doesn’t seem like much actually happened this week. They established the second mask, but we don’t have much clarity on it. I assume the photo Tomoe took the day she was kidnapped will show whether they had one or two in the sunroom?

I’ve been thinking it was a Chekhov’s gun ever since she took it. I wonder if it will show anything else interesting.

And look at that, Moe had the same idea as me about the recording. But it doesn’t look like she suspects that Motoki might have been gone all along (Tomoe did have a vague musing along that line). Maybe it’s like in 笑わない数学者 where it’s a lot easier for us to see than for the characters who are in the middle of it.

Oh and I was so confused when they said something like “good thing we’re not in winter, there could’ve been a fire”. I thought I was misunderstanding something. Forest fires usually happen in summer right? Right?? So I googled 山火事 季節 and in Japan it’s actually 1月~5月. TIL.

They’re hammering in the fact that nobody has seen/interacted with Motoki in person for the past 3 years so much, I feel like if the answer is just that the family got rid of him after he assaulted Tomoe then that’ll just be… boring.

I guess maybe it’s more about the dry/wet season than temperature?

Haha I was so confused as well! I think I read that sentence like 3 times because I thought I must have missed something… Thanks for your research!

Oh now that I think about it, there’s 梅雨 in June which might lower the risk of bushfires?

Seems like Moe and the detective (Nishihata or something?) had some pretty similar ideas. Unfortunately for them, that means they’re probably both wrong…
