Wanikani-themed t-shirts

I used Cafepress awhile back. Was not my favorite, but may have improved in the years since then. I’m sure there are many good, simple to use, options though.

teespring seems nice and it can do EU fullfillment too!

Yes! We are all over the world, would be nice to be able to get one without paying triple for shipping!

TeeSpring looks good.

I’m not sure if you can expand the printing area, as shown below. Maybe you’d have to contact them.

Make a deal with Fangamer maybe? Or at least talk to them. They’re ridiculously good at making t-shirts (water-based ink, woo!), and they’re very approachable. They print on (or at least printed on) American Apparel t-shirts, which are very high quality and have a really good-looking fit. I’m sure they’d give you a fair chance, at least.

All of the other services I’ve tried, especially made-to-order ones, have plasticky layered-on-top prints. I wouldn’t say that’s an option at all if you want quality. Some of those types of prints are better than others (e.g. Fangamer’s early work, The Yetee), but water-based ink will always be miles ahead.

Great, now I can wear this in public and people will call me a “wanka”.

ooooh, this looks rad!

awesome! :turtle:  :turtle:  :turtle:

Just saying I would buy one to keep the hype on.
It would be nice to have high-quality prints in file, so people can print it themselves and you don’t have to ship it to Uganda and shit (no hate). You can also sell it for few bucks.

This is fantastic. I really wanted to recommend a company that used these shirts but didn’t have time to research. I’ve ordered from a lot of online shirt vendors and these shirts are by far the best ones that I have received.

does fangamer make shirts for other people? (sorry, not at all familiar)

I wonder if setting up a Society6 store might be the ticket. You can apply your designs to a bunch of merch they have, t shirts, couch pillow covers, shower curtains etc. The quality seems to be pretty good and then they would handle making the merch and shipping, so you wouldn’t have to worry about boxes of XXXS shirts gathering dust in the Tofugu offices. Probably less profit to be made that way, but way easier? A few of my artist friends have shops set up there.

Mmm I do love me some Fangamer @koichi.

I’ve never used Society6, but usually places like cafepress that poop your logo onto a million things aren’t the greatest quality. Though, I’m just making an assumption here, because I’ve never used it.

I don’t care a bit about profit - I think we’d just go ahead and not make any profit so people can buy nice quality things for a reasonable price - but I do really want high quality things. Should be a joy to wear from design, to fit, to feel of the fabric and dye.

I once bought a pillow case and a tote bag from Society6 and both have just a tiny label with the logo on them, hardly noticeable imo. Now I can’t say how it is with shirts, but both the bag and the pillow are really sturdy and look almost as new as on the first day. (Plus, I think Society6 sometimes offers free international shipping - at least many artists have free shipping events)

I’ve ordered three pillowcases through society six and the quality was terrific. I haven’t heard anything about their standard T-shirts; however I did order one of their “all-over” print shirts and the quality wasn’t good, they had to replace the shirt twice and there were still marks where the shirt had printed onto a wrinkle and messed up.

Ah damn that sucks… That stuff can happen once, but three times in a row is pretty sad.

Indeed! This was like the first week they started offering all-over prints, though, and I assume the process is pretty different for a standard screen print shirt with a design on the chest or whatnot.

They don’t usually - it’s not their thing, as it were. However, I do know of several collaborations they’ve done with other organizations. Sometimes to produce very, very specialized things, too - t-shirts should be a relative breeze.

In any case, if you care about quality, I’m fairly certain a legit inter-company (whatever company it may be) collaboration is the way to go. Made-to-order companies just don’t offer the same degree of quality (print or textile), due to a multitude of reasons.
