  • yeah, I wouldn’t recommend letting your apprentice items get as high as I’ve managed. I was happily doing all the lessons that became available as they became available … until last week. My daily number of reviews was somewhere between 250 and 300 … and I’d manage to keep on top of that … but then when I went up to level 26, I did 70 lessons … woke up the next morning with almost 400 reviews … whoooops!!! I’ve managed to get my apprentice items down to 245 right now … and hopefully by the time I get to level 27, I’ll have my apprentice items down to 150ish. From now on, I really want to keep those apprentice items below 200 as I reckon I’ll make progress at a similar rate, but spending maybe half the time doing reviews.

After having a little leechy lvl 5, I organized my 7 days level to be more well organized. If you’re trying to level up fast, here’s how I do it:

=> The moment I level up (DAY 1), I do the lessons of the vocab from the level before + radicals. I really try to avoid a single Kanji. You don’t need them now. The good about this day is that radicals aren’t that hard to memorize compared to Kanji and the vocab comes with your knowledge from the level before. A lot of lessons done but nothing hard.

=> DAY 2: I check if my lessons from DAY 1 are going well (probably reviewed them already twice). If everything is ok, I’ll do the Kanji from the lessons that I’ve got. This way I avoid doing all the Kanji together later on as that could be overwhelming. Because I only have like half of the Kanji to play with, I make sure to know them well. This can help later on with the 89% Kanji fear (and not losing extra time).

=> Day 3: Today I’m guru’ing the radicals and the vocab left from the lvl before, which means way less reviews and new Kanji. If I feel ready for some new lessons, I’ll do all the Kanji ones that I unlocked. If not, don’t worry. It’s still DAY 3. I do believe you can learn the new Kanji on this day because you just got rid of a lot of reviews.

=> DAY 4: If I did the Kanji yesterday, I’ll do the vocab that I didn’t do when I lvl’d up. I can spread this vocab into DAY 4, 5 and 6. No need to do it everything in 1 day. The goal is not to leave this lessons to the next lvl. Plus, I’m still on DAY 4. If I didn’t do the Kanji the day before, I’ll do it today and leave the vocab that’s left to DAY 5, 6 and 7.

=> DAY 5: Good news, you’re guru’ing your half part of Kanji today. New vocab will appear but no worries, you can put them together with the other vocab lessons and spread everything throughout the rest of the DAYS before you level up.

=> DAY 6: Everything seems under control. DAY 6 and DAY 7 allow you to focus on your leeches that are still on your apprentice deck. Make sure to focus on them today because it’s where you have less work from your current level. The vocab is 100% under control because you distributed into 2/3 days, making it like 10 new vocab/day. You’ll feel like today is a rest day. Enjoy it.

=> DAY 7: You’ll level up today. After lvl’ing if you feel like doing the new lessons, go ahead. If you want to take the rest of the day off, do it. Tomorrow a new cycle starts (DAY 8). Some vocab might be guru’d this day (thanks to DAY 4).

No screenshot of my review, but I just upgraded to the OSX public beta and now I procrastinate while on the review screen because of the picture in picture feature :man_facepalming:

Unrelated, and please don’t take offense to this, but I’m curious what your first language is. You don’t have to tell me though. I’m just curious. c:
