Wanikani Override Userscript 1.1.2 ("Ignore Answer" Button) [No longer supported]

Its a trap~!

Small update due to Wanikani update.

1.0.3 (5 August 2013)

Wanikani update changed the review URL. While the script worked, it also affected the reviews summary page. This has been fixed

Thanks for this, it has removed a significant amount of frustration previously due to typos

The hotkey ~ isn’t working for me…

Are you sure you are using the latest version of the script (1.0.3)? I don't think it auto-updates.

Note that the hotkey is made so it only has an effect while there's something that was incorrectly answered on screen. If you either answered correctly, or are in the process of answering, '~' won't react.

Since it works perfectly fine for me here, I need some more information to try to reproduce any problem you might be having. What browser do you use (name and version)?

I'm using the latest version (1.0.3) (just downloaded it today).

I'm using Google Chrome Version 28.0.1500.95, via Tampermonkey.

Are you sure you're pressing the right key? Maybe it's a problem with your keyboard layout.

Hmmm....I'm using a Macbook Pro. Does that change anything? The ~ key is in the top left, and you have to press Shift along with the key to get it or else you get ` instead (what do you use ` for anyways?).

Could you make it so that we can also mark “correct” answers as ignored?

I have a lot of trouble with the last name, first name, and full name vocabs. Sometimes I will type “first name” when the answer is “full name” but it thinks I just typo’d something and marks my answer as correct. If I’ve yet to get the reading question, I will get that one wrong on purpose just to keep the vocab in my queue, but I’m out of luck if I already did the reading question.

Funny. I had tested it before, but I just loaded up Chrome and the hotkey isn't working for me either. I'll see what I can do.

That has happened to me once, but I never added that feature. It shouldn't be too hard.

The hotkey bug should be already fixed, I’ll be releasing the 1.0.4 update in a few minutes
EDIT: Update released, if the script doesn’t auto-update, check the first post on this thread and update manually.

1.0.4 (14 August 2013)
- Fixed the ‘~’ hotkey in Chrome.
I looked into allowing users to ignore correct answers, but there’s a problem with that. As soon as you answer correctly to both the meaning and reading, the WK server is immediately contacted. This means that ignoring the answer is no longer possible if you’re answering the second (as in, you’re answering the meaning but have already answered the reading or vice-versa).

It is possible to edit the Wanikani script in order to make it wait until you press enter a second time to skip to the next question instead of auto-submitting, but that’d require a lot of work and would make the script pretty easy to break with the simplest Wanikani update, so it’d require a ton of work to get working at first, and a ton of maintenance later.

I don’t think that is an important enough feature to justify all that work and make the script easier to break.

Thanks for the update!

No problem. Glad it's been useful for you and everyone else who posted.
I know it's been useful for me ;)

Now to get the patience to do the 40 or so lessons I have left, since I leveled up a few hours ago. Yeah, I'm lazy -.-

THANK YOU.
I’ve been wreathing in agony as I continuously type the wrong “wanikani” meanings for stuff after my long absence. As if having 1,000+ reviews isn’t bad enough - getting stuff wrong when you really knew the answer, resulting in it being added right back onto the pile, is terrible!

I just entered “fully healed” instead of “fully recovered” or “completely healed”. And before that I entered “car tire” instead of just “tire” or “car wheels”.  And that’s hardly the beginning of my synonym rage from today alone. :I

Seems like this should fix that issue right up.

I am having to press the ‘f’ key before I can use the ignore button. Is it just me or is this a feature? Using Chrome and version 1.0.4 (which says it last updated 4hrs ago on Tapermonkey, but I’ve been having this issue for days now).

I don’t like having to see the item info for typos… as much as I try to ignore the correct answers!

That doesn't happen here. I just tested it on my side using both Chrome and firefox, and ~ always works immediately, as long as the browser window is focused. I can't do anything to resolve the problem if I can't reproduce it :(

It might be an incompatibility with another userscript. If you've got any other scripts installed, could you temporarily disable them and check whether this problem remains?

This is the only script I use, and I don't see this problem. Using Chrome too.

No more getting the ‘say humbly’ radical wrong because I typed ‘humbly say’! MUAHAHAHA

I get 1,000 review every 10-15 days. So ha!
