the kanji in question is “enter”
i do not know what I am doing wrong, I believe the answer should be (Ni, Yu, U) but wanikani is not having it.

Classical newbie error. You should write nyu u. Thats a small yu. Have you study the kana?

Thats a typical typo, so dont worry. ^^
It is a compound hiragana you have to enter. That is にゅ (nyu) and not にゆ (niyu).
