Good on you guys to keep us informed. Brave of you too!
I think it’s very cool the way that you’re trying to dynamically fine tune everything.

It’s great that you’re adding all these new items! I’m happy to again have some lessons to do! ^>^
A spontaneous question here. I have heard and seen the gendered words for your ex: 元彼 - Jisho.org
元彼 元カレ
元彼女 もとかのじょ or 元カノ
it makes sense for the gender neutral to become 元パートナー but I can’t say I’ve ever encountered it, which admittedly doesn’t mean much, but spontaneously, I wondered if エックスパートナー was more common? (pairing an English loan word with another English loanword) ![]()
I was hoping the new content I had unlocked was from learning radicals, as I’m still several hundred reviews behind . . . lol, but this is a welcome change. I do already know 匹 and feel it is now appropriately leveled. I still am gonna suggest lowering 書く to at least level 10. Also, Kenichi seems to have a new voice actor.
Really like this. New content to study, and things better organized by level. I’m very much in the camp of, if this resource I’ve already paid for wants to give me more material, yes please. Even to the point I would love to see extra levels and kanji someday.
Thanks so much for continuing to make WK a better and better resource. ![]()
How does items moving up out of my level work? like 外す、外れ、外れる. Will they disappear from my reviews and become locked again?
No, they will still be in your review pile. Once you get to the level where they are taught, it will simply say that you’ve already done them.
Great! If this road leads to Level 69, containing all the Joyo kanji, 最高!
Can we have the missing N1 kanji included in WK in the future? the 130 something missing kanji?
There is one missing grade 6 Kanji and it messes with my need for completeness.
蚕?
(Can’t believe I got baited into looking through an entire list of grade 6 kanji.)
Surely all level updates should apply only to unfinished levels? I just got new content from level 15 and 20, and I am on level 38.
How’s anyone ever been able to finish WaniKani if the rules are changed after the game is over?
Wait, are you saying that finishing WK is more important than learning kanji?
Probably more important to finish WK than to learn words and readings that are far more common.
Would probably agree if they started dumping thousands of new vocab that didn’t add any improvement to WK as a whole, but it’s not. It’s carefully chosen vocab that gives a more accurate reading of kanji.
Do you also get upset when they update games with new content?
Which levels are “unfinished”, exactly?
Well sure, if it’s paid DLC. ![]()
Nooooooooooooo!!!
Are we allowed to make suggestions for changes? If so, it would be awesome if we could move 込 up to an earlier level. I’ve seen in constantly recently when reading and I see now that it’s level 32 on WK. I’m only a mid N4 reading level so maybe it’s a kanji that should be learned earlier? Just a thought. Love all the work you guys are doing to keep the site updated!
Edit: I just remembered that WK isn’t necessarily ordered based on what kanji are common so much as how complex they are?
Yes, the ending 込む is very productive in Japanese. Tofugu even has an article on it: KOMU 込む Compound Verbs in Japanese (and How to Use Them)
If you have an Android, Flaming Durtles has a setting in “Lesson advanced settings” that let you learn current-level items in priority
Other apps or some user script might offer the same.
