WaniKani Content Additions: Ongoing from April 29, 2021

The levels haven’t increased since 2012 I think. The philosophy behind it is that by the point you reach level 60, it’s better to start learning kanji by reading and immersing yourself in the language. If you want to see what N1 kanji are excluded, here’s a list:

to introduce the けん reading earlier

Can you remove this forever if I close it ? It’s annoying me >.>

I closed it but I also always leave the tab open. Will it be forever? I dunno, but you can always just close it again… at the end of the day, it’s just a super helpful announcement for those who missed the email or don’t frequent the forums.

Hi! Thanks for the feedback. This is actually deliberate, so that you don’t accidentally check information that might come up in a review just afterwards. For example, if you’re on the meaning review, only the meaning info will show on the first click, so that you don’t see the reading info and then have that review next and get it “artificially” right. We’ll bear your feedback in mind though - maybe we could offer options in future

Hi Marc69! As Arzar33 said, 山びこ is generally the echo you get if you shout in the mountains, so it’s a bit different from エコー, and the two aren’t always interchangeable. We’ll add to the meaning explanation to make the use clearer!

Wow!!! We’re in for a treat

This will definitely delay my planned all burn time, but at least now it gives some room for error

Btw, does this also mean that the list with items that will be removed will be delayed?

That’s right! We won’t be hiding anything for at least the next six weeks, and we’ll be sure to publish the list with explanations well in advance

Oh new kanji.

It’s great to see ()む on there too, I encountered it a few times already so it’s great to see it added to the site

What a great time to be 60! Give us more!

No please don’t do that. I feel so overworked right now. I think I need a vacation.

Also why do we need to learn the kanji for crotch? Do the people at tofugu want us to get better at reading pervy manga? Asking for a friend.

For the same reason we learn armpit? I mean, it’s just a body part. Your friend may need to get out more.

Plus the vocab seems useful.

How are you supposed to describe the symptoms of that STD you caught gallivanting across Japan to a doctor without knowing this? Clearly this is a problem many have encountered thus requiring them to correct this oversight. (^_-)-☆
