There’s overlap there at least. Both can mean “first of the month.” It’s not as clear of a divide as some other ones where they ignore one.
I didn’t realize いちにち can mean first of the month. I thought it was just a timespan of one day.
But I think 十 could be something similar for とお and じゅう.
I agree it would be more difficult for other words, like 実 truth and nut/seed as the meanings are so far apart.
PS: 一日 has more readings than I thought: いちにち、ついたち、つきたち、ひとひ、いっぴ、いちじつ.
