hello everyone,
I am trying to export a text list of all learned vocabulary (learned, any SRS level)
ideally would be just with spaces in between but I think commas would work as well.
Can someone help me achieve this using the WK item inspector?
There are two main export features in Item Inspector, the item list export or the export to csv format. The item list exports a simple list of items separated by white space or commas. The export to csv format allows you to select which items data like meaning, reading and various statistics etc.
Based on your request I suggest you use the item list export. If this doesn’t meet your needs just tell me so and I will teach you how to use the export to csv format.
First you need to configure the item list export. Go to the settings, select the settings tab and scroll down to the Items Export Option section
The options should be as shown in the screenshot above. If not modify them to meet these settings.
This will export a list of all items separated by white spaces. If you want commas separated items select the Comma Separated checkbox.
Some radicals don’t have a Unicode character to display them. They will displayed by their English name in latin characters. If you don’t want them check the No Latin Character checkbox.
To actually export, first save and exit the settings. Select the All Learned Items table on the Item Inspector dashboard. Then click on the cloud icon button on the right-hand side of the controls bar. Then your items will be exported.
Hey im a bit confused, i want to export all the kanji i have learned yet to a excel csv but i cant really get it to work. thankss
Here is a step by step procedure
- Go to the Item Inspector settings
- Go to the Tables tab
- Click on the New button to create a new Table
- Name the table by typing the name in the Edit Table Name field
- Make sure the Ask Before Filtering check box is NOT checked
Now you have a new table that will receive the Export settings.
- Go to the Filters tab
- Check the Item Type checkbox.
- Select the Kanji Item type.
- Check the SRS Level checkbox
- Select all SRS levels from Apprentice I to Burn
- Make sure Locked and Initiate (Lesson Queue) are NOT selected.
This table will now display all learned Kanji.
- Go to the Export tab
- Choose your Cell Separator and Use of quotes
- For Excel Horizontal Tabs and Never Use Quotes work best
- Check the Include a Title Line check box if you want a title line in your Excel spreadsheet
- The other Data Format options let you further format the data in the spreadsheet. Leave them at default if you don’t need them or don’t know whether you should use them.
- Scroll down to the Export Columns section
- Select the data you want in each Excel column. You don’t need to fill in all Columns. Just fill in those you need.
Now your configuration is ready for the export.
- Save your settings and return to the dashboard.
- To export click on the export to csv button on the right hand side of the Item Inspector button bar.

I am having an issue and do not know where I am going wrong.. I was trying to export vocabulary by JLPT so I was starting to make a table with N5 mostly around items that are locked or in my lesson queue
I went to filters and have selected the following:
Include these items: Wanikani Items
Item Type: Vocabulary, Kana Vocabulary
SRS Level: Locked, Initiate (Lesson Queue)
JLPT Kanji and vocab: N5
JLPT with voc: N5
but when I hit save then it says no items match your criteria. I am very new to this so I do not know what i am missing and tried a couple examples from the OP and throughout the thread.
This message appears when you overfilter your items and nothing passes all the tests. When you use multiple filters like you do they are anded meaning an item must pass all the filters to be retained.
The one odd thing I see is that you use both JLPT filters. They are not meant to be used in this manner. You should use one or the other but not both, or maybe to use two different exports one for each JLPT filter.
Yeah that makes sense and when I unselected one it seemed to give me what I want so thanks for that!
I just figured since both were mentioning vocab that they were filtering different types.
