I just came across vocabulary for upper and lower case letters. What are Japanese upper and lower case letters? Is there such a thing?
No, the words refer to capital roman letters.
Haha, I think that’s for when they’re speaking about roman text. Did you know, by the way, there is such a thing as lower-case numbers? I didn’t until recently and I’m almost 50 years old.

I didn’t know that either, and I’m almost 50 too. old persons fist bump

The funny thing is that I once had to help my friend with his English homework, and at one point had to tell him that we use uppercase for this and lowercase for that. Despite understanding what they mean in Japanese, he had no idea what a lowercase vs uppercase letter actually was in Roman text.
Can us non-50 year olds be surprised at that too?
Sure, but if you’re 25, only half as surprised.
What if I knew about old style numerals, but not that they were considered lowercase. Am I still surprised?
Nah
