Ugh I can't understand anything... oh wait it's Chinese

I guess it depends on your definition of “average”. :man_shrugging:
And even though fonts can vary a lot, we are talking in the context of a news article on the web. Those will use fairly standard, blocky Japanese fonts, not stylized fonts.

I’d be curious to see some of those fonts. I just checked out a few of the more stylized Japanese fonts I have installed, and they are all still distinct from the Chinese version. Next time you see one, please send it my way, if you don’t mind.

I had the “why can’t I read this” problem reading katakana at a restaurant… until my wife and I realized it was all Korean food names!

I’m fairly sure you’d qualify as above average regardless of the definition. :stuck_out_tongue:

Much appreciated.

Sorry in my previous post I meant I’ve seen the Chinese version of 糸 not the versions were it is used as a radical. But sure next time I come across it I’ll try and remember to send it to you.

I didnt do anything but it looks like this now lol

唐船ドーイ‼️ (The Chinese Trade Ship Comes …)

The Japanese-Dutch dictionary developed by my Japanese teacher (also fulltime translator), has it looking like this:

His Japanese wife has never had an issue with it either

Is this shamisen or sanshin. I’ve only heard sanshin music and even then only a little and I can’t quite tell

三線 沖縄のさんしんです。This is one of the most famous traditional and ubiquitous songs that is used for the “kachaashi” dance at the end of a celebration / wedding receptions, etc.

“Toshin Doi” ( The Chinese Trade Ship Comes…) :Toshin Doi - Tenipuri Version lyric. - selamanya lupa-lupa ingat... — LiveJournal

Ah that’s where I recognised it from. I think my school played it at the end of the eisa performance during the sports day last year!

Japanese?!? I came here for Knee-hone-go! I am going to demand a refund.
