The Great Wall of Kanji!

Hello everyone!

I’m fairly new to WaniKani and I decided to start a small project. Every time I learn a new kanji, I’m going to make a sticky note of it and plaster it on my wall.

89 so far!

I’m using this as motivation and a cool visual to see all that I’m learning. I’ll have to report back in as it grows - hopefully I might someday have a wall of over 2,000 kanji. (if the sticky notes can stay sticky for that long :no_mouth:)

Just kinda wanted to show off and I’m also wondering if anyone else is doing something similar.

Nice. Wonder if you’re gonna need a bigger wall, though - my back-of-the-envelope calculation tells me you’re going to need a height of about 3.3 metres. :slightly_smiling_face:

I did some measurements, and if I stick to the grid I currently have I’ll be able to fit around 1̶6̶0̶0̶ 800 sticky notes. I’ll have to expand out to the right some more, but it will definitely be possible to fit 2̶0̶0̶0̶+ 1000.

Good luck with that, it looks great!
I know you’re not the only one, because I remember someone posting similar pictures a while back, but I don’t remember who it was.

Building a wall of kanji is a good idea.

Thank you for the Life Hack! I’ll post pictures of mine when I finish.

I think it’s a really cool idea to help keep you motivated and proud of consistent effort. But also it looks really awesome! I hope to see pictures of your wall filled out even more in future!

I thought maybe you could add new readings as you learn them, but adding as you go along for some kanji might be rather a challenge… plus it looks very clean as it is.

I like it. We all have our own way of doing things and I was considering doing something similar, in the future, for the items I have troubles with. Good luck with your wall!

I think this guy did it too

It`s so colourful and I am here for it.

You’ll have to keep updating us as it expands!

This is an amazing idea! I’m currently renovating my room and I have lots of space I don’t know what to do with, so maybe I should try doing something similar? Besides, it’s a great way to learn the stroke order!

It seems to be coming along nicely. I realized that my math was wrong last time (I somehow doubled the total?), so I’ll only be able to fit around 1,000 in this grid, but I do have plenty more wall space in my room. I guess eventually I’ll be completely surrounded by kanji

Looking even better! Will you have multiple walls of kanji then?

Compare it side by side, it’s very cool :+1: がんばって

Level 20! The end of pain, and the start of death :anguished:

It has come along quite nicely, pretty soon I’m going to have to start on another wall. Unfortunately the new sticky notes I ordered had a different shade of blue, but at least the new blue is prettier. See you guys in another 10 levels - most likely with a new wall started

Anything that helps motivate you to keep covering your wall with sticky notes- I’m all for it!

Level 30 update - halfway done! Already had to expand to another wall, and will be expanding to a third very shortly. Time for the descent into 地獄 :grimacing:

Well that is getting quite impressive.

Out of curiosity, how often do you get kanji just randomly falling off the wall?

Wow, keep it up!!!
