There’s part 2 of that Harta sale with miscellaneous series from that magazine getting some discounted volumes. I would highlight the first three volumes of joie de vivre-heavy slice-of-life (and book club pick) ハクメイとミコチ for a hundred yen (pre-tax) each. And I would recommend the first volume of ファンシー革命, a newer series about a designer at a Sanrio-like ファンシーグッズ company, for the same price. I don’t have particular interest in the subject matter and am often impressed and delighted with the series anyway, so I’d certainly recommend it does sound like that might be up your alley. 1/28(水)23:59まで

Also - someone already mentioned Wandering Son, but it’s worth noting that many other series from Beam are also on sale, including for that low price. For 30 yen (pre-tax) I would recommend EVOL if you’re into edgy and stylish superhero send-ups, or Nick & Lever if you’re into endearingly stupid gag comics. 1/22(木)23:59まで

also, i know @akatsukinoluna probably has all of them already, but across all of the big japanese manga sites, each issue of コミック百合姫 from the 2025 series has been discounted to be only ９９円 each (until January 31st)!
I just finished reading ２０２６年１月号 today, I have almost all of them physically, but not all of them, so it does itch to grab one of those, but would recommend checking them out! I sometimes post fun findings on my study log, so if anyone is on the fence, getting one shouldn’t be that big of a sacrifice ^^

Don’t know if everyone received it, but I had a coupon for 40% off a volume I’d recently browsed. Which included バター which I’m hoping to read with the ABC.

While browsing each and every campaign they currently have going on in search of that coupon, I accidentally noticed Kadokawa’s Light Novel campaign is now up to years 2006-2010: KADラノベセレクション2006～2010(ライトノベル)の電子書籍無料試し読みならBOOK☆WALKER.
Oh, is that 川原 礫’s music I hear? His specialty is series that happen inside game worlds, like ソードアート・オンライン and アクセル・ワールド, which are now on sale. Extremely long light novel series, both are still ongoing today. These are series that only someone who spent years playing MMOs could write, and I guess that made me curious enough to sample way back when.
I’m not very far into either series; I wish I could say they were easy reading but that would be a lie. Don’t expect too much. A bit like junk food, it’s fun to indulge every now and then, if you can stand certain tropes that have only become much more common over the last 25 years since he started writing the web novels… you could also make the case that it would be interesting to see how an author gets better at his craft over 25 years, but I can’t yet really say anything about that – maybe one day.

I won’t be buying out of this sale because a game just came out in the trails series and I frankly bought a little too much in the 85-95 and 95-05 sales. I do want to mention the high school DxD novels are on sale (the highest quality gentleman’s literature or so I’m told) and also Baka & test series. If they increasingly break the sales into smaller time periods there’s going to be a lot more published in later years than earlier.
Also I’ve been harsh on sword art in the past for little to no reason if I’m honest. It’s not a terrible series, but my initial impression of it was tainted and I didn’t give it a fair shake for a while. It’s a middle of the road kind of series I guess. Neither peak cinema nor the worst thing to watch.

Is anyone else having issues with the Bookwalker Android app or know anything that might help me out?
Since about a week it hangs for ages on loading. The first time I open a session the screen will be blank, grey, for 1-3 minutes. Then the bookshelf appears and seems to be unresponsive but if I wait, after 1-2 minutes it might start loading a manga. After another 1 minute or so I can read. This means if I make a short detour in another app and come back, I’ve got a 3-5 minute wait to read again. 
Any ideas?
Nothing particular happened to my Samsung tablet, no major issues with space or something. I turned all the autosync settings off but that doesn’t seem to have solved this.
Tried:
- stop all autosync - no change
- cleared cache- no change
- deleted all data - no change, NOT recommended, see below
- reinstall - no change - I DO NOT recommend this, the settings page takes 5 minutes to tell me it can’t connect to the server, so now I can’t sign back in. Only option now to read in browser. Edit: which also isn’t loading

For me the Android app is as sluggish as ever but not unusually so..
I tried loading the web reader and this one is indeed uncharacteristically slow however. It did eventually load but it took over a minute.
I guess I just have to hope that the app won’t crash on me while I’m reading my Dungeon Meshi chapter…

What is sluggish normal for you? For me before it was perhaps 3-5 seconds, not sure. Long enough to be the slowest digital thing I use but not rage inducing
