Finished Ayakashiko 4, earned another point. …And then bought Moomins and lost it ![]()
Isn’t that a book club? Book clubs shouldn’t lead to losing points imo!
Now that I’ve bought it I kinda agree
But I can’t go changing my rules now, that’s cheating! But it’s only one point, it’s fine.
But then the rules encourages you to not join book clubs!
Aha, I see. According to your rules, you lose only one point for buying book for book club. But then you can gain the point back when you finish reading the book. プラマイゼロになるんだよね、それも悪くない
Then you’re still encouraged to tackle your tsundoku.
Big oopsie here, just had a look at my Bookwalker shelf and somehow I had failed to notice 4 series that I also own
I don’t think one year will be nearly enough to get through my 積読, so see you here next year too I guess!
I’ll make a 2027 thread next year, so then everyone can get tsundoku credit for reading their purchases from this year
Tsundoku never ends
not with that attitude… pfft… ![]()
get reading…if you read everything in your libby… then tada…
you have reached the end of tsundoku and can finally go outside and touch grass ![]()
or do more book shopping

I finished one physical tsundoku read this month, which was 図書室の怪談 with the children’s novel club.
I would have liked to finish a proper novel this month but sadly I got sick with the flu which kind of threw everything off. If I keep reading at a good pace I should have a couple more tsundoku books finished in march!

It’s been a tumultuous few weeks for me - roughly summarizing, I’d been trying to engineer a particular long-distance move for a year and a half targeting 2026, and anyway, I got word back that implied to me neither of the two avenues I was trying actively to pursue was likely at all to be doable any time soon, triggering a lot of emotional back and forth as I grappled with that, but now I’ve pivoted to reinvesting in my current and assumed ongoing status quo (although still being open to a チャンス if it did present itself…) instead of focusing single-mindedly on dwelling on the big future change like I had been.
And so anyway! On the one hand the main reason I was actively focusing on cutting down on 積読 for a long time is a bit dead in the water. But on the other hand, I have novel toys to play with, like my first eink-based ereader, and I’m very much looking forward to reading more for the sake of reading than for the sake of getting rid of things, so I think I’ll still happen to make some nice strides in the 積読 realm anyhow.
I read a couplea non-fiction books:
僕には鳥の言葉がわかる
ゴジラ×市川崑 1977~2006の現場
And some manga:
アックス第154号
20世紀少年(7-8)
プロレス・スターウォーズ(3)
大ダーク(8-9)
Bought the first 6 volumes last summer.
Never knew what it was about, but it’s one of those manga that I see the name popping up often on here, so I had a feeling it might be good.
I LOVED it! Got a bit of a shock even, at how nice the drawings were. You really get a nice feeling of how Japan looks like in rural areas, among other things. And really liking the story.
2 more volumes are out already but the series is not finished yet, so I think I will keep on working on my 積読 and go back to the series later when even more volumes are out!
This is where I’m at with the series as well; I want a nice big chunk of volumes to read, so I’m waiting for more to release. And of course, by the time I’ve got enough stock for that, I’ll probably want to re-read the beginning volumes to refresh myself as well.
Haha that’s not a bad idea at all. Could happen to me too!
The show was also great, if you haven’t watched it. Apparently it mixes around some of the plot points (I am not very far in the manga), but you’re probably past where they pull from. It was the highlight watch for me of last summer’s anime season. ![]()
With the help of the readathon, I managed to finish the last volume of the Yellow arc! That puts me at 7/64 books completed. Volumes 8-14 are the Gold, Silver, and Crystal arc, which when completed is when I’ll make my next update. These arcs are just doubling in size lol.
It’s been a little over a month since this post, I’d say I succeeded. This time I’ll try for finishing before the working year is over in June.
Thought I wasn’t gonna get any points in March but the readathon came in clutch. I finished Ayakashiko 5 which is worth
one point ![]()
My Bookwalker coins were expiring this month, so I used them to buy Afternoon Yawning and アンリの靴 2, so three points spent.
I finished one volume of Harta, although I mostly actually read it in February.
Two paperback reads! 魔女の宅急便 gets the award for ‘longest in currently reading’ as I started it in April 2025, making almost a year of looking at me and making me feel guilty. Felt good to check this one off. I also finished キッチン which is my first paperback novel read start to finish this year. Yay! Sadly, my next paperback novel reading project is not 積読 because I bought the book this year. Or… maybe that’s good, to read something right after you buy it, because then it will never become 積読 ? ![]()
digital books purchased/acquired this month: 5
physical books purchased/acquired this month: 3
I was glad to check that one off too!

Bought はめふら 2 after I finished 1. Also a new book of the kekkon series came out.
Currently reading book in my tsundoku: 52ヘルツのクジラたち L33. I feel like it’s not level 33
The kekkon series was more difficult. Could also just be difficulty blindness. I first started reading kekkon series in 2022 after all.
