Grammar-wise, it was interesting to see xはxで again. I had encountered it in another book club, and I’m still not entirely sure how to interpret it. It seems to be used in order to emphasize some kind of contrast, depending on context. It’s pretty hard to find more about this construct. If anyone has more information from somewhere, I’d love to read more.
Also, 青春する seems to mean to experience one’s youth, whatever that entails. From the jisho definition for 青春 it wasn’t very obvious to me how the する verb worked, but this link seems to confirm it.
