This summer and fall were really busy, and I was out and about a lot so I feel like I’ve read mostly only digital manga recently. So I’m sORRY SLAM DUNK, but now I’m back to reading it mwehehehe
I guess this isn’t completely related, but maybe just enough?
Basketball Adjacent Ramble
But, one of the things I was busy with was an international trip to Spain!! For the first week I was with some friends who moved there, and they took me to their weekly basketball night!!! It was honestly one of my favorite nights of the whole trip haha! I told them I was going to be really terrible, because I mainly only play and practice by myself with no one else to play with. But they assured me that some of the other people there aren’t that great either 
and they just have fun.
But actually, it ended up being a really solid group/players and we had a really good time! AND I WAS ACTUALLY ABLE TO BE USEFUL TO MY TEAM! My friends were very impressed that I could actually play, and didn’t completely suck, and that made me so happy 
I surpassed the bare minimum let’s goooo
But it was a really beautiful area too!! It was a full outdoor court, we had it all to ourselves, and we played as the sun set, and there was just a massive mountain range, RIGHT THERE. We don’t have mountains where I live, so 
it was beautiful
But yeah, that was honestly one of my favorite days of the trip hahaha
I am.

I recently read through Slam Dunk (as someone with 0 interest in basketball or sports, and as someone who doesn’t read much manga either, but it had come highly recommended so decided to give it a shot. pun intended) and it’s literally become my favourite manga. It’s so good! Highly recommend to anyone considering reading!

Bizarrely, I can’t update the homepost, it tells me I can’t update the poll after 5 minutes, but I didn’t try changing the poll? So use these links for now and I’m hoping that’s just a temporary glitch and I’ll update the homepost later

@Mods I’m sorry to tag you, it seems something is broken on Discourse (issue below: it thinks I’m modifying a poll when I’m not) and I was wondering if you could flag a report to Discourse? Or if you’re already aware of an issue/fix?
I just wanted to add a link to the home post, but I can’t update the above home post, whereas other thread updates work. The difference I noticed is there are emojis in the polls here, and the error I get says the polls can’t be updated (I didn’t make any poll changes though). I’m told the emojis on Discourse updated recently due to copyright reasons but the id stayed the same. I don’t know if it’s related to that, but I definitely didn’t used to have any issue updating this post.
Interestingly, it still logs each time I attempt to update the home post even though it didn’t actually change anything.
Any help appreciated! Thank you!

Someone from Discourse got back to us and told us that this is expected behaviour:
“By default, Discourse does not allow editing a poll after 5 minutes of creation. This behavior is due to how votes are reset whenever a poll is edited, as a safeguard to maintain vote integrity.”
They also told us that the message will appear for any post containing a poll even if you aren’t editing the poll per se.

That’s a very strange response, because I have been editing this post for a year (>> 5 minutes 
) with no problem despite the polls. And many other posts with polls. This is the first time I’ve had a problem, and the other posts with polls still allow edits. 
It seems the actual behavior of polls is not necessarily what Discourse is expecting.

Hey again! We heard back from Discourse and they said again that if you’re seeing the message, “You cannot change a poll after the first … minutes.” when editing your post, it’s because the edit would reset the vote counts — even if you’re not directly changing the poll.
They also said that if you’ve been able to edit similar posts before, it’s likely because those changes didn’t trigger a reset in votes. We know you did the following, but for the sake of relaying the info, here’s a suggestion they offered:
If your user is still having trouble editing posts containing polls, they will need to ensure that the edits they are making to the post do not impact the poll.
Just to double check, is this the only post you’re experiencing this issue on or does it happen to every post with a poll?

To add to Rachel’s post, Discourse staff told us they haven’t touched this feature and its settings lately. We’ve also never changed the settings either from 5 mins to something else.
But after 5 mins, you’re able to edit it right? We’ll leave the setting as is unless this becomes a bigger issue for more users.

I took a look at mitrac’s post and one thing I noticed is that the emoji are typed in as actual emoji - like an actual U+1F4E3 
character instead of :megaphone: which Discourse then turns into . Similarly the microphone is an actual U+1F3A4 
character instead of :microphone:
In particular, I think it might be that is the problem. Previously it would have been converted to :mega: 
but now it’s converted to :megaphone: (possibly since this commit but the large modifications break the github UI). So I think since :mega: isn’t :megaphone: it thinks you’re trying to edit the poll.
@mitrac If my theory is right, I think it might allow you to edit the post if you swap the megaphone emoji with the :mega: code for an emoji.
EDIT: I did a view source and it looks like the previous value was :loudspeaker: 
not - So maybe you might need to change it to :loudspeaker:

I can confirm I’m making edits that don’t affect the polls. I was previously (before the Discourse emoji update) able to modify this post.
This is the only post I’m having trouble with. For example, I can modify this one and it has polls (no emoji in polls)
That setting can remain and wasn’t generally causing me an issue, the problem seems to be the emoji updated and the post is registering that as a change.
Is there a way to temporarily (on your end) allow me to make changes to the poll and delete the emojis? Or if that’s not possible, does Discourse have any other solutions for me to regain editing abilities of this post?
Oh thank you for looking at that! Yes you’re right, when I open the post for editing I see the emoji not the :microphone: etc, oh dear, I guess my ignorance on that caused this
I tried swapping out the loudspeaker (nice idea) as you suggested, but unfortunately that doesn’t work. I also tried both the loudspeaker and microphone just in case but that gave the same error.
