Hi everyone! Pretty new to WK and Japanese language learning in general (3 months in). I saw the study log category and thought making my own would be a nice accountability tool and way to meet and chat with other learners!
My routine right now looks like this:
- 15-20 WK lessons
- All WK reviews
- 4 BP grammar items
- 5 BP katakana vocab
- All BP reviews
Mainly because I have a lot of free time- I’ll probably tone it down in the fall. Today I completed all of my goals, see you all tomorrow!
Welcome!
Looking forward to reading your study log!
Good luck with your studies
Welcome!! I hope we can all keep each other inspired to learn c:
Day 3:
- 15 WK lessons, 9 BP lessons
- 74 WK reviews
- 105 BP reviews
My bunpro review accuracy is a bit low (~75%) since I have it synced with WK. BP has a lot of sentences that use alternate definitions of vocab not taught on WK, so it’s a steep learning curve trying to learn all of them. Still, I’m pretty happy with my progress!
Day 4:
- 12 WK lessons, 9 BP lessons
- 47 WK reviews
- 56 BP reviews
Higher accuracy on bunpro today, 82%, which I’m very happy with! Starting to really enjoy the grammar studies.
Day 5:
- 20 WK lessons
- All WK reviews (forgot how many)
- 9 BP lessons
- 45 BP reviews
Leveled up to level 6 on WK today! Trying to be a little more efficient getting through the levels so I did all radical lessons today to streamline things. I installed a lot of scripts yesterday including lesson picker, and I’m definitely enjoying the quality of life improvements! Ended up disabling the hide review accuracy one because it actually made me more stressed not to know, lol.
Main goal for the rest of today - read a little bit of yotsubato and finally add a pfp! Also maybe some conjugation practice…
It’s pretty rainy where I am so it’s a nice day to just stay inside and work on japanese (which is definitely not becoming a hyperfixation…)
Day 6:
- 20 WK lessons (plus a self study quiz right after to reinforce)
- 102 reviews
- 9 BP lessons
- 69 BP reviews
Yesterday I did some conjugation practice but no yotsubato (gasp!) so today that’s my priority. There’s a BP deck that covers the vocab from the manga, so I’ll keep that open as a quick reference as I go in addition to jisho.
I’m also determined to figure out the freaking difference between 中 and 内, so I’m planning to read that tofugu article. I also need to get my japanese keyboard working…
Unrelated stuff:
I got a Frieren poster from the mall yesterday and I love it so much!!! Here’s a picture + a bonus pic of my cat.
Day 7:
Today was rough. Took a lot longer than usual to get my lessons and reviews done, as well as getting a whopping 59% accuracy on BP reviews.
However, I still did all my lessons and reviews!
Day 8:
- 15 WK lessons
- 6 BP lessons
- All reviews (105 WK, 62 BP)
I’m switching up my lesson distribution on BP for my sanity- going from 4 grammar to 2, 5 katakana vocab to 2, and adding 2 N5 vocab per day for a net change of 9 → 6 lessons. 4 grammar points per day was just too much for me to keep straight without extra practice. This way, I can slow down and make sure I really understand the grammar I’m learning.
Day 9:
- 18 WK lessons
- 6 BP lessons
- All reviews (91 WK, 89 BP)
First day since starting BP that I got over 90% accuracy!!! Finally starting to get the hang of fill-in-the-blank english->japanese vocab translation. I think if I do any extra work today, it’ll be reviewing some of the grammar points I have in rotation on BP to understand the differences between similar ones. (And as always, verb conjugation).
Keep up the good work! Glad to see you decrease the BP grammar point workload. I think even at 1-2 per day your grammar will still probably outpace the rest. Im currently chugging through the N1 grammar list on Bunpro. Looking forward to seeing your progress
Day 10:
- 15 WK lessons
- 6 BP lessons
- All reviews (128 WK, 57 BP)
Bit of a slog this morning but pushed through! Definitely need to review some grammar, lol.
2026/5/30
- 15 WK lessons
- 6 BP lessons
- All reviews (82 WK, 55 BP)
Got a few tricky grammar items correct in my BP reviews today which I’m quite happy about! The slower pace is definitely helping out a lot. I’m going on vacation tomorrow and I haven’t decided yet whether to turn on vacation mode for wanikani… thoughts? I’m also wondering if there’s a similar functionality on BP.
2026/5/31
- All reviews (65 WK, 31 BP)
No lessons today because I’ll be going on vacation tomorrow. I’ve decided to leave vacation mode off since I’ll have time to do reviews, but wait to do any more lessons until I’m back.
In other exciting news, today was my first day getting 100% BP review accuracy!! I’m really happy with my progress working through some of the vocab and grammar points that have been tripping me up lately (立てる I’m looking at you ;-;). I definitely feel like I’m starting to understand conjugation better, even with the new addition of past tense verbs.
I may or may not post while on vacation, but I’ll be back with an update by 2026/6/7 the latest!
2026/6/8
- WK 20 lessons
- WK all reviews (199)
- BP 56 reviews
Catching up post vacation! Not much bunpro today, catching up on WK took most of my energy. I’m up to level 7 now and am trying to progress as quickly as I can to level 10 to get a basis of kanji for reading immersion.
2026/6/9
- WK 5 lessons
- BP 6 lessons
- WK 43 reviews, BP 113 reviews
Man, coming back from vacation is hard. I’m struggling to get back into my routine, so today’s also a bit of a light day. Hopefully tomorrow I can meet all my goals!
In other news. ABBC has voted that the next book will be よつばと!so I’m planning to join when that starts. I think it’ll be challenging, but the pace is slow so I’m not too worried. Besides, I think it’ll be nice to have some japanese practice that isn’t rote memorization.
2026/6/10
- 15 WK lessons, 6 BP lessons
- 121 WK + 100 BP reviews
Woke up to 249 BP reviews so I decided to not try and clear that pile - instead, I focused on doing my lessons and clearing WK reviews. Hopefully tomorrow I can 0 out both websites!
