Well. I got to level 21 about seven years ago, and then…things happened. And then I opened up Wanikani in January and found about 1800 reviews and who knows how many lessons. I’ve been dogged, though, and today leveled up, which I kind of can’t believe.
I also think it’s a testament to Wanikani that even after seven years, when I first opened my reviews, I was burning kanji and radicals–my brain had retained them. I haven’t burned anything now since February! But hopefully that will happen soon?
Anyway, this is all to say that if you are lapsed out there, please take some inspiration, and again, to say that this really is a wonderful learning platform. And a great way to spend the pandemic…
Hey, congratulations! I‘ve also returned from 1000+ reviews a couple of times, so I know how hard it is. The important part is to stick with it, no matter how bumpy the ride.
Once you’ve reviewed all your enlightened items, you need to wait until the items of the level below that become available again. On that level the SRS interval is 4 months. So you should see your next burns around 4 months after you started reviewing again.
