How do i mentally survive the failed burn attempt on this one?

I have that same item at Enlightened waiting for review (my only not burned Level 1 item as well)

Embarassingly, I have the kanji item for the vocab OP mentioned at Enlightened waiting for review as well because I messed it up with 士 last time it came.

If it makes you feel any better I failed the burn review for 右 the other day and that’s a level 1 kanji

I started off my first burn session with failing the “fins” radical. Not the best start for burning, and it’s proven to be more the norm than an oddity. No matter how simple, it only takes a moment of confusion and it’s back to guru. >_>

That sort of defeats the purpose of the SRS-system for learning, but you should do what feels right for you.

I don’t mind it that much when items gets sent back, because that just proves I could do with another turn learning it. No point in cheating myself of learning things properly.

That’s alright. I still haven’t burned the 日 radical. I keep instinctively putting “day”.

Yeah I’m with @darkness_rising on this. The only point of the radicals is to recognise the semantic and phonetic components. Wolverine doesn’t really help me learn either the pronunciation or meaning of the kanji it helps make up.

I guess that’s true, but it is part of how I now remember several kanji and keep them apart in my memory. And not all mnemonics are made up, there is overlap I’m sure with other radical systems (?).

Well, like I said, I don’t really mind set-backs that much, since this isn’t a game where you get some kind of award for reaching the end. There is nothing there when you reach lv 60. There is only having learned stuff as well as you could on the journey there.
