Earlier this autumn, I reached 9999 vocab in my ‘Vocabulary I’ll Never Forget’ deck on JPDB (yay!). Turns out that’s max capacity for decks (ohno!). I thought I could move the words over to another deck and delete the words after, however, the way I did it wasn’t correct. Which means I unfortunately deleted the entire deck and all the vocab returned back in queue for reviewing.
I did consult the discord server and thankfully they had tips on what to do (scripts/tools), but I was just so frustrated (why no info in the FAQ about 10k cap? I never knew there was a cap on decks), I ended up leaving the site for a few months. I had the tools, but I was just too tired after manually getting (most of) the words back into my Never Forget deck again, I decided to put it off for later.
Long story short/TLDR; There’s a 10k cap on decks on JPDB. With the export script (found in the jpdb discord server), it is easy to export vocab from one deck and import them to another one.
Make sure you have Tampermonkey and the export script installed.
In case you didn’t know, there’s also a limit to the number of decks you can have (250). Though by the time you’re reaching 250 10k never forget decks, you’ll probably know enough words for most things.
Though e.g. if you create a deck from one of the pre built ones, e.g.this one, it can have more than 10K items in it – my deck for that book says I’m at 10353 / 14305. So maybe there’s something special about prebuilts, or about the never-forget deck.
Yeah, same thing happened to me a while back. Options for fixing it are either to delete decks (it will prompt you to move the cards you have studied to a new deck), or to get the patreon subscription…
Totally agreed about the docs (a lot of this is undocumented and you have to ask in the discord), but given the dev isn’t really working on it I don’t think docs improvements are very likely.
It adds this menu during reviews for easier management. Convenient for when you want to remove a word from your reviews without having to send it to blacklist.
