Days 31-32
Chapters 4 and 5 of volume 3 of Teasing Master Takagi-3… er, Takagi-San. (Impressed with myself, I read half of chapter 4 at a rest area on the drive up and the other half while waiting for my wife using the Buc-ee’s restroom. Today was easier, read in the hotel before leaving.

  • Continuing 逆転裁判2 case 2, finally got to the murder. One prominent witness has an incredibly difficult formal Japanese mode of speech… another (thankfully familiar) witness is throwing around the 関西弁… it’s going to be a long trial.
  • Started a new manga, 税金で買った本1, which is about libraries! I’m enjoying it so far, and it’s an easy-ish read.

no worries. I love seeing visually how much I read in a month, it’s one of those little things that keeps me going. Hopefully I’ll start having months where I read 2 LNs… then 3, then 4, etc. I might actually read Adachi + Shimamura in a few months… it’s got to be easier than Toradora lol

I love your patch notes! And I’d never noticed that function before; that’s neato!

  • The Jam Maker - Satori Reader

I tried to read some manga today, but burned out after two pages. My brain did NOT want to comprehend Japanese.

it do be like that sometimes

Home Post

Well, I managed to completely forget to post for a full two weeks… Whoops…

I did read on most of those days, though I missed three due to various irl reasons. Overall in January, I read 30 pages in the Hobbit, the first chapter of 骨ドラゴンのマナ娘 Volume 1, two chapters in カードキャプターさくら Volume 9, and three chapters in 名探偵コナン Volume 25. I also played through the first 4 weeks of the FF2 book club. And I finished the month strong by blowing through the entirety of ナルト Volume 4 on Jan. 31! :upside_down_face:

Hopefully I’ll do better keeping up with posting now in February! I read 1 1/2 pages in the Hobbit plus 1 chapter in 名探偵コナン Volume 25 to start the month off.

[よつばと!2] pages 1-10

I reread volume 1 of よつばと then read 10 pages of volume 2. It’s definitely easier now then when I first started 19 days, I’m so excited to read more.

My goal for this month is to read at least 2 volumes. I hope I can reach my goal and maybe even read 3 or more volumes. Happy reading everyone!

Read all of Naruto 4 yesterday for Naru Day. Back to just a chapter of 僕らの食卓 tonight.

A new month begins! Read the next chapter of ギャルと恐竜 for the ABBC. This was the most text-heavy of the chapters thus far. I feel like this series is taking me much longer because there’s so much slang I have to decipher.

Absolutely me every time I've eaten a home cooked meal at a friend's house

Anyway, new header for my posts so I can hold myself to my 6 volume goal. Maybe I’ll play with the formatting a bit, but I like the checkboxes for sure!! Gonna make myself a copy-pasta template to make post creation simpler.

This is a good goal; I should steal it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Would probably have to do some easy-mode novels to keep it going but that’s fine too, still at the ‘any reading is good reading’ stage

Work & other commitments this week are going to limit my reading time for a few days. Might on manage a chapter a day

I’ll be cheering you on if you decide to give it a go! Iirc 安達としまむら is a 31 on Natively while とらドラ has been jumping around from 32 to 33.. so it should be somewhat easier :yellow_heart:

Looks like we have the same goal then

February 1st
Read one more chapter of 花野井くんと恋の病 (20% → 39%) and feel like I got a bit better at recognizing Kanji instead of just relying on the Furigana.

February 2nd
Read a bit more of 花野井くんと恋の病 but not a whole chapter again. (39% → 44%)
It’s nice to dive into the story again, especially since it feels a bit endgam~y now.

Also made some new Goals for February which I hope I will hit. I challanged myself a bit more there in comparison to January but we will see!

Reading: しろくまカフェ① :right_arrow: p20

It’s harder than I thought to find time reading, I’m spending all my time on the snow, and also eating! Shirokuma cafe is great. Sure there are some hard to get jokes. But in general it’s fine for my level. I’m also doing a lot of “reading” of signs and billboards and menus. Making an effort to read out loud all the things I see and it’s great. I’ve heard some people go on Google Maps street view and “walk” through some part of Japan or watch one of those “I’m a creepy weirdo walking through Japan with a 4K camera” videos. While I hate the invasion of privacy it’s useful immersion content! I think that is a really good idea and I think I’ll consider watching some of those videos on occasion when I get home to practice sign & billboard reading. One thing that’s interesting is how much katakana I see around in a ski resort. This place has the highest amount of katakana I’ve seen, e.g. on menus, ski run names, and many many signs and ads.
