Eye Doctor Chat
Are you in the US now or am I misremembering? I liked all the eye doctors I had in the US as an adult. One said I must be a vampire with how sensitive my eyes are, another finally taught me how to get contacts out in spite of my sasauge fingers and somewhat small eyes, and another dealt with overly anxious me with a scratched corona asking if I needed to put the eye drops in both eyes without laughing.
I don’t know. I didn’t speak much Japanese at the time, so a very kind coworker helped me out.

My reading for yesterday! The chapters in 二十面相 are nice and short, can read one before bed.
A new book loving snake hatched this January. After @lucylavelle’s inspiring 3m snake, I wanted to give it shot too. I don’t have much crochet experience, so I’ll have to figure things out as I go.
January Snake Update
The young snake still doesn’t have a name, but it probably doesn’t mind.
It devoured a total of 12 physical books:
*orange (manga): vol 5-7 (orange)
*魔女の宅急便2 (book) (pink)
*デューク (book) (pink)
*葬送のフリーレン (manga): vol 1-4 (yellow)
メジャーセカンド: vol 1-3 (dark blue)
It was a bit scary for baby snake to go on a picture alone, so it asked a lucky plant to join. Little snake is 54cm long.
Happy reading everyone!

武州公秘話
巻之二 - Completed the third section, which also completes this volume!
巻之三 - Started on the next volume, this one consists of two sections, the first one looks pretty long, read up to the first picture, which act as pretty good bookmarks.
He’s looking great! It’d be great to see a reading challenge herpetarium!
Eye doctor chat
I’m in Norway~ :3
Here in Norway there are eye doctors in private clinics and eye doctors at the hospital (public intuitions). I trust the eye doctors/specialists at the hospital, but not all private eye doctors. At least not for their glasses prescription. Usually there are optometrist at the hospital doing the refraction/prescribing part. But I trust all eye doctors for their knowledge regarding eye health treatment.
Vision and eye health is a big field of study, not everyone can be good at everything.

自動販売機に生まれ変わった (LN) 第一巻 - 29 pages (9% → 18%)
It’s a new month (how did January pass so quickly?) and I’ve finally picked up 自動販売機に生まれ変わった where I left off a few weeks ago. I must say, after 蜘蛛ですが this one feels a lot easier to read which is somewhat of a relief.. I should make my way through it relatively quickly, but I’ll have to wait and see. The story is of course completely absurd but I’m really enjoying it - I feel like something goofy and out-there is exactly what I need at the moment, so it’s all good. One of the characters uses quite a lot of 関西弁 in their speech which I’ve never really had to learn or decipher before, and it’s honestly quite fun learning the basics of the dialect. I’ve wanted to get around to learning a little 関西弁 so I guess there’s no better time than now!
I saw @Jintor include a January recap and thought that looked really fun (hope you don’t mind me stealing your idea), so here’s mine for last month:
January - 3 light novels read
My aim for this month is to get another two or three LNs done, so we’ll see! Anyways, good luck with reading this February, everyone - 頑張ってください ![]()
That sounds like a really fun idea! How did you make the snake, if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve never tried to crochet before but this kind of inspires me to give it a go ![]()
Thank you! Really happy you like it!
I asked @lucylavelle the same question in December: 📚📚 Read Japanese Every Day Challenge - Fall 2025 🎑🌕 - #1074 by lucylavelle
Hopefully this helps! It includes a link to the pattern they used, so far I’m just following that. Feel free to ask any questions you have. If you decide to make one, I’m sure we’re all excited to see your snake grow longer!

Wow. I did not expect that a simple reread would be that much easier. I could have finished the chapter if not for a pesky headache.
January 26-30
I played more 英雄伝説 碧の軌跡. There were even more quests to do. I hope I’m done with the quests and can continue the story soon.

Thank you, that’s really helpful! I’d love to give my own snake a go at some point, that’ll be really fun
Do you have any advice on where to start learning to crochet? I think it’d be good to learn the basics before I attempt a whole snake ![]()
