Amit’s Reading Journey
Hi everyone, this is my first ever reading challenge, I am thrilled to become more active in the community and of course improve my Japanese skills! I would put myself around N5+ level at the moment, but I’ve set out to read and improve nonetheless. Anyhow, best of luck, success and fruitful reading to anyone reading this, stay blessed :3 (also, if anyone could help me figure out how to create awesome hyperlinks and dropdown lists in here it’d be awesome!)
Here is my Natively for anyone who wants to add me.

My goals with this
My goal with this challenge is to hone my reading ability in Japanese, and naturally understand the ‘casual’ construct of Japanese, and obviously to sort of test my limits or put a threshold of where I’m standing at right now. It’s quite surreal to think that I’m able to read in Japanese, and *mostly *understand what I’m reading, so my goal is to truly enhance my ability in reading, improve my grammar, vocab, and obviously immerse myself further.
What I'm reading
For what I chose to read I am going with ホリミヤ, I don’t have a specific reason, but its either that, Chainsaw Man or Vagabond, which I think will prove way more difficult to decipher.
hyperlinks you can either highlight over the text you want to turn into a link and just copy+paste the link you want like that, or you can click this symbol
in the bar at the top of the draft box when you’re making a post and fill in the information it asks for.
for dropdown lists, i assume you mean these?
Summary
nothing to see here, sorry
which you make by clicking on the cog symbol
and choosing ‘hide details’
(you can also do it with markdown/html but that’s uh somewhat out of my wheelhouse )
One chapter of ふらいんぐうぃっち plus a little Aokana VN today. It’s a long VN and I’m a slow reader, so it will take many months to finish it. I do enjoy reading it though!
That was very fun and entertaining! Love me a silly romcom. 4/5 stars.
I’ve gotten my hands on the sequel and read the prologue of it, so just a tiny bit:
Long dropdowns are easier to edit if you break the formatting by taking away one of the brackets while editing and adding it back when you’re done editing.

I started reading Dーダーク・ロード 2―吸血鬼ハンター 11 it’s not that easy but I think it’s interesting. Only some pages there was too much vocabulary I had to look up.
Legend of Heroes Trails from Zero
Actually I already started playing this game some time ago but I’m still not the far. I prefer the protagonist Lloyd over Rean. He is more down to earth just some dude who becomes a police officer to protect people. It seems his brother was also a police officer and got killed for unknown reasons. Maybe we will learn it later in the game. If people wonder it’s working fine on a steam deck.
I started playing Romancing Saga 2 - Revenge of the Seven. Even though I only started playing it I already like the game. The battle system is interesting you need to attack the weakness of enemies or you won’t do much damage.
Had a few sentences where even though I didn’t “know” the word, I got the sentence, and therefore I knew the word. Like 私は息子の遺言に従っているだけだ。I checked the vocab sheet for 遺言 and then 従っている just made sense.
Thought I was done with the witness finally… then last minute 待って!And more 決定的証拠品 is produced. Was too tired to deal with it so will deal with that tomorrow.
Finished Frieren v5. Inspired to just churn through the volume since it wasn’t as difficult as I remembered, though still a lot of unknown fantasy-ish vocab. Had to rewatch the anime to get the nuance of some scenes (particularly one character explaining a theory of magic which was a bit tricky) and the anime is a lot better anyway, so it was a good chance to reappreciate that ep.
me and psycho-pass are getting along again! yay! also started another manga from the randomiser, this time 探偵犬シャードック, which is a somewhat comedic manga about a son of a police officer who gets a new dog who happens to be the reincarnation(?) of sherlock holmes. it’s sort of mid so far but it’s a light, silly kind of read and that’s good enough for me. i’ve got an omnibus with two volumes in it, so might be at this for a while
new english book is ‘the martian chronicles’ by ray bradbury
Things went much better again but I couldn’t progress as quickly as I would have liked due to many lookups as some sentences were a bit difficult to untangle.
