Finished 付き合ってあげてもいいかな1. I really, really like it, but it’s also a bit frustrating because it’s juuust outside of my comfortable reading level. I have a fair few of the english volumes, so I’m set for a while (it’s getting the JPN volumes on sale that will be the issue…) and whenever I compare against what I just read I always find I missed some nuance or something and it’s really irritating.
More エルフさん. I’ve taken to reading the English LN in split-screen mode just for easy reference without having to drag along another device - surprisingly useful (it would be even moreso if the response rate was faster, but that’s eInk for you)
Last week was a good week of reading. Although I missed a day because of my time travel from US to Korea and not having any offline resources to read on the flight. Let’s see how I do this week back in Korea!

On the 17th, I read the presentation materials and extra exercises from my lingoda class! Friday night so I took it easy.
After finishing the 名探偵コナン volume on Friday, I decided to give myself a bit of a break on Saturday by reading something a bit easier…and then I needed even more of a break on Sunday due to getting at most 3 hours of sleep the night before… So I ended up reading 4 chapters of Major Volume 5 (mostly on Saturday, but I did manage some on Sunday, despite the lack of sleep, so I can still check off both days. )
Today I went back to コナン and read the first chapter of Volume 18. Looks like this volume contains the beginning of Haibara Ai’s introduction. I’ve been looking forward to getting to read that, so hopefully I’ll be able to find the time to read a lot this week!
I didn’t quite manage to finish 君には届かない over the weekend but I was so close! I just have a little bit of the final chapter to go and then there are about 4 additional tiny stories at the end to read through, so I’ll chip away at that this week and get it done.
Got out despite the cold and got through 3 more pages of the Bluelock light novel whilst chilling in a cafe with a nice mince pie latte (delicious!). Even though there’s still a fair amount I’m looking up per page, it feels considerably smoother to read than it did when I attemped it 6 months ago so that’s a nice feeling.
Also started another book with a book club over on Natively. I think at this point I probably have a few too many on the go at once haha. No more new books in January now, I’ll use the last half of the month to wrap some of them up.
did the final chapter (and bonus story) of 3月のライオン and finished vol 15! only two volumes to go before i’m up to date! chipping away at psycho-pass, i forgot how long this case/arc was. for my english read i picked up one of the books i got gifted over the holidays and, hm. not very far in but i’m already not a fan still, it was a present, so i’ll finish it.
OH and ishin is more accessible than i was expecting (provided you read up on some tosa-ben first and maybe have a passing knowledge of some of the historical terms? game gengo’s video was a helpful primer) and dialogue text stays onscreen when you pause (unlike gaiden) so i think i’ll be okay!
Yeah agreed haha somehow I’ve always associated Pixiv with illustrations that up until a few years ago, I didn’t even know people uploaded fics there too (wish JP uploaded fics to AO3…I’ve been too spoiled by AO3’s functionalities that searching for fics with Pixiv feels so clunky …)
Same!! Karaoke Iko’s live action adaptation is so well done! The casting was especially brilliant haha

I finished the Yuffie dlc in Final Fantasy VII Remake. The dlc felt mostly like a waste of time. There were some cool boss fights and the video at the end was awesome.

Next Chapter of Flying Witch today. They made ハムバッカー and now I am totally craving some too. I really miss Japanese Food sometimes. It looks so delicious when portrayed in Anime/ Manga too! It’s not fair
I gotta be honest, Pixiv still confuses the hell out of me xD I have 0 clue how to navigate this site, and sorting by anything other than date seems to be a premium function??? I’ve been only using it for a couple of months now (ever since I was laying sick with a fever during my exchange and watched カラオケ行こ on Japanese Netflix) and I can’t even find a way to categorize my bookmarks
Riiiight!? I cry every time at the 狂児への鎮魂歌 scene , and 紅 became my karaoke go-to after watching it. I would honestly ascend to heaven on the spot if one day they make a Famiresu adaptation as well (with the same cast) I saw some comments like that on the movie’s insta account apropos its release in China and I can’t let the thought go
you can add tags to individual bookmarks by clicking on edit in the bookmarks tab, and then you can sort by your own personal tags. but, like your favourited tags, you can only have ten at a time on the free plan (ones for art and novels seem to be separate, so ig you have 20 total to work with).
it can take a little while to get used to pixiv and the quirks of the userbase (tagging is inconsistent at best) but once you’ve been there a while it’s not so bad. reminds me more of deviantart, or even ff. net, than it does ao3 (which makes sense, they’re both aiming to be very different kinds of site)
