I read a whole chapter of BabySteps in one day, which I don’t think I’ve ever done for a manga before, which I guess reflecting on it now is quite the achievement. I didn’t have time for a second reading of the chapter to reinforce vocab/grammar/sentence meanings as juggling the speaking and listening challenge as well is quite difficult.
I had been looking up almost every word I was unsure of, which I have come to realize is not a very efficient or fun way to read. I’m thinking of restricting myself to only 2 or 3 words max on each page.
Also, I am quite fearful on running out of content to read, as sadly I’m not too willing to spend money on buying amazon kindle books, so I was wondering if there are any good book websites that have free books/mangas to read. There are some free indie mangas on amazon which I’ve tried and have enjoyed, but was curious to what else was out there. The only one I currently know of is Satori reader, which you have to pay a subscription to get the full experience.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and I’ll update again in a few days. And thanks very much to anyone who’s reading this, I’m still a complete beginner so I apologize for inconsistencies or similar, including the bad quality of this update post, quite rushed right now. THANKS AND GL
two short chapters of 3月のライオン, which didn’t take long but i saw there’s a shogi column at the end of the next one and thought better to save that for tomorrow made some good progress on psycho-pass with the spare time though. lots of exposition and one extremely jarring nsfw dialogue exchange that didn’t make it into the show.
today’s nhk article was this one (bookshops) plus the entries on といったところだ and といって in aDoAJG
bookwalker! they do free volumes of stuff all the time (either temporary or to keep) and there’s a wide selection. i also use cmoa, which has its own free reading section, but it’s a lot easier to stumble into nsfw content on cmoa (there’s plenty of crossover of works between the two sites, but cmoa is definitely a lot more lenient on that second point).
worth checking out the bookwalker freebies thread too, everyone in there is very nice and discounts get shared often along with free works!
No energy for books, but I’ve read some of the Steins;Gate VN. The forum threads were a bit of a pain. Also, funnily enough, there were literally 0 voiced lines today, so it was really just reading text.
Slow day, started reading Flying Witch again since it’s such a cozy feelgood Manga. The chapter was pretty easy too, almost no lookups, which is nice for a change.
