Wow thanks so much for the recs!! Gonna add them to my to-read list
Hard agree on this, reading 理由 felt like it could be way more concise (and all the better for it), haha (The book is so long I was already forgetting important facts that were established in previous chapters, Without the character name sheet in the Natively thread I would have wasted a lot of time just flipping back to refresh my memory on the characters I forgot lol)
Yessss there’s so little EN 二次創作 for some JP fandoms so by necessity we have to look for it in Pixiv TT TT If I’m not wrong Karaoke Iko’s gonna be getting an anime adaptation so hopefully that will give rise to more fanworks
NHK NEWS WEB EASY (1 article) SR Nutshell Grammar (1 episode)
SR クロースアップ: 東京地下鉄サリン事件、その後 第1話~第11話
Will start volume 5 of よつばと tomorrow but in the meantime read a second SR story in its entirety. Yesterday’s was difficult, but today’s was quite difficult - difficult grammar & lots of unfamiliar words. I’ll return to these stories later in the year to see if they become easier
Weekly wrap-up : Read One Piece Vol 10, started reading 風立ちぬ, and 夜警. Both are book club books (informal IBC off-shoot for 夜警, ABC for 風立ちぬ), and I started 風立ちぬ early, but it is so far rather slow reading, and since when I’m working, my reading time is short, I figured I’d get a headstart. Especially since I should also keep up with かがみの孤城 (second volume coming up !), and I’m on holiday this week…
I’ve finished! I was brilliant, and I’m dying to read the next book. Unfortunately, I have something else to do today, so I’ll start reading it only tomorrow.
Today I caught up with Bocchi and Bocchi for this week’s IMC and BBC.
The two clubs had basically the same number of pages, and were read one after the other, so the difference in times says something about the relative difficulty of Bocchi vs Bocchi.
I haven’t read in a whil, so the first-ish week was smoothly going on reading easy things to take back the habit. I still found new words here and there so quite pleasant. I aim to go for more literature next
Checking in today with another chapter read from Smoking behind the Supermarket with You. Slow chapter, nothing much happened and especially hard to read since I had to look up a lot of the Kanji. Also frustrated that I didn’t got any reading in yesterday, would have loved to complete the challenge without a missed day
But well, busy with work so しょうがない.
little bits and pieces in jp, as usual (not gonna make it official and put it in the table but i’m watching the plot through of ff7 crisis core, cos why not). i also finished the hen who dreamed she could fly and it was good! it definitely reads like a fable or even a folk tale but it was an enjoyable read. no idea what i’m gonna read next tho
I remember I was so happy to learn there’s a similar site to AO3 except it’s in JP, haha. I’ve learned a lot of new words just from that The vocab is just too different
January 11
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Today I finished the first chapter in the Yuffie dlc. The japanese is harder than in the main game. Why? There is much more talk than in the main game.
Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel 2
Rean was captured or like it was called in the game. He became a guest on the flag ship of the noble faction. I learnt a bit about Crow’s past and got to talk to some of the bad guys. Actually there are not that bad we just ended up being on opposite sites.
I should better increase my pace in playing these Legend of Heroes games. Besides Trail of Cold Steel 2 I also have Trails of Cold Steel 3, Trails of Cold Steel 4, Trails from Zero, Trails to Azure and Trails of Reverie in my back log.
