and i’m done with axiom’s end! as a sci-fi story it works pretty well, and there’s a lot of consideration for how individual character’s morals clash with each other and the broader system they exist in. there were parts i found diffiult to imagine tho, and i wasn’t especially attached to any of the characters. i know there’s two more books so i might give those a try at some point. no rush tho
plus some pixiv this is a jp challenge after all

Book spoilers: Now we know why ローゼマイン is being scolded less. It’s because ローゼマイン’s adoptive mother stood up for her, saying to the guys (the other 保護者達) that they shouldn’t scold her for acting against common sense when they’re the ones whose teaching hasn’t been good enough. Yes, her lack of common sense is a problem, but it’s also their fault for not teaching her sufficiently and she shouldn’t be scolded so severely. She’s a good kid, after all. Well done, フロレンツィア!

)- Continuing Ms Elf ８. It’s weird, even though i would classify this book as relatively difficult [for some weird reason it has absolutely no furigana even for names, only for spells, uses kanji for stuff that’s usually in hirigana and is filled to the brim with people with old man accents], I can down it like popcorn relatively easily. I think because the chapters are relatively short and there’s a fair amount of action sequences. (Well, all of that and I’ve read most of this already in Eng at some point). Anyway, continuing along.
- I will say though it really annoys me that all the covers are outright lies at this point because there’s been so little chilling in the IRL world at this stage, it’s all fantasy dungeon crawling/politics, which is the least interesting bit of the series to me

A combination of being lazy re: updating and being in the mountains means that I have 3 days of updates in a row!
Still making good progress. I’m excited to see how much I end up having read by the end of this month: so far the challenge has made it so that in terms of books, this has been my most productive month of reading. I do want to get back to playing more video games though. For some reason reading books makes me feel like a more valuable and productive member of society as opposed to playing video games.

Finished off volume 4 of Bluelock today. I think overall this volume felt a little harder? There was a considerable amount of new vocab, but I’m getting better at being in the mindset of, look up a word, understand the sentence, move on, rather than being stressed at remembering every new thing I see.
The light novel is still a challenge. Managed to sit down with it for 45 mins yesterday and got through an entire 2 pages 
I’m sure it’ll get easier in time as manga did, but right now it’s pretty exhausting to work through.
I think I’ll hold off on starting anything new until Saturday when the IMMC starts Full Metal Alchemist, and for the rest of this week, just chill and re-read some things I’ve read before.

July is coming to an end. This is the month of the year when I do my most intensive Japanese study, dedicating at least a couple of hours a day. I’m already feeling anxiety about the new school year starting.
In particular, I got my renewal notice for Satori Reader yesterday and have to decide this week whether I want to renew. I used it a lot after I returned from Japan last summer, but let it flag during the school year, and this summer decided to read manga instead. Satori Reader is expensive, and I am stressed out about money generally, so I’m having a hard time deciding. It’s a great resource, but not really worth it if I don’t use it!

If it’s expensive and stressing you out that much, it may be better to drop the subscription for now. You can always renew it with the monthly subscription if you’re finding yourself wanting it, and they have a lot of deals throughout the year.

I could’ve read more, but my friend reminded me there was a season 2 of Heaven Official’s Blessing (TGCF) I hadn’t completed yet, so I watched ep 5-12 of that. It was really good TuT. Hua Cheng is so handsome. Qi Rong is so annoying (but surprisingly well done in the donghua).

- Finished Ms Elf 8! It’s still difficult (especially whenever they get into the politics… so many lookups) but I’m feeling a lot better about this since the last time I scan-read it. I think Volume 10 is out in a few months, so just gotta catch up on Vol 9. Maybe not immediately though.
- Not sure what next, maybe finally start 逆転裁判、maybe another easier manga.
- There’s a coinback/sale on yuri manga at Bookwalker atm so I plan on getting a metric tonne of that even if I can’t read it easily yet

Today: free-read Chap. 25 of よつばと！ Vol. 4. I was feeling so hopeful that I would get to Vol. 5 before the end of the summer, but now I have my doubts! No matter; I’m feeling good about understanding the bulk of this chapter without doing any lookups.
