Continuing slowly going through Onimai, though my game jam starts in two hours, so I may end up taking Saturday and Sunday off.

Not much time the past couple days, just a few pages of One Piece

Oh, I remember that anime. So it’s based on a manga, huh? I ended up googling it and saw that it’s also been published in English. The Japanese version seems too hard for me right now so I don’t see myself reading it anytime soon. The anime was so good especially the music and storytelling so I don’t know if I would even like the manga version.

・45 pages of 旅の道づれは名もなき竜, reading to the end of pg pg 111
・12 pages of 管理人さんの恋人, leaving off on pg 18
I’d been having a bad feeling (on top of Sylvielle only being 19, which was already iffy; I mean, I know things get hand-wavey between races with different lifespans, which I’m willing to go along with to an extent, but still—and it doesn’t help that the dragon apparently sees him as a child), annnd… yep, 名もなき竜 turned rapey. So I’ve dropped it. Disappointing.
管理人さんの恋人 is by the same author as 先輩、恋していいですか, which I liked, so hopefully it’ll be good. The difficulty’s a bit higher than 名もなき竜, but still not bad. Definitely more lookups, though.

My weekends are pretty low on Japanese studying in general, so I am assuming the same will be true for how much reading I get done, but who knows! Maybe some weekends my afternoons will be clear enough to spend some more time on it.
I’m noticing some vocabularly that’s getting a lot of repetition in the NHK Easy articles and I’m already doing fewer look ups thanks to that. Trying to not get impatient for signs of progress like this, I’m just excited!
Read a cute picture book today. It was super easy, yet there were some unfamiliar words I had to look up (and sometimes, the lack of Kanji is worse than having to look them up. I will never complain about them again
)
Super cute book, but even though it’s for children it was hard reading it all in a day. Feeling pretty accomplished ![]()

I read an interesting article from Watanoc about a vehicle. I wouldn’t want to drive it though because I don’t even have my license.

Taking the advice of @Daisoujou and @Jintor (thank you!) to keep reading Virtue’s Last Reward. I like it a little more by now, not 100% sold on it yet but I’ll keep going until I reach at least one ending and see if the whole story is more exciting by then.
Finished ミイラ by 吉本ばなな in “Read Real Japanese”. The book is still super hard, but I really like the grammar explanations, especially when the editor explains the more subtle nuances.

one chapter of isekai and that’s about it. one thing the manga did was that the forest the protag finds himself in at the start is mostly normal (murderous slimes aside) but in the novel the tree trunks are see-through. i can see why you would make that decision from an artist’s perspective but it’s a shame to miss out on the strange, glass-like trunks imo.
also i finished she who became the sun, loved it just as much as i did the first time through. some late-book stuff hits extra hard when you know it’s coming. on to the sequel! i’ve got 11 days left on my library loan, that should be plenty of time.

i didn’t realise this got an anime adaptation or an english manga release! it didn’t seem like the kind that would so i assumed. that was silly of me
i see it’s on crunchyroll so i’ll add it to my watch later! i really like the art in the manga so hopefully some of that expression comes across
it’s hard but if you’ve already seen the anime you’re probably in a better place to approach it than i was when i started! just be prepared for irregular (but understandable) readings of words you already know and lots of look-ups for the ones you don’t.
