Plan & Goals
This is my first time participating in a forum challenge, but I think it’s the perfect one since I really want to making reading in Japanese a daily habit. If I have learned anything from my YouTube binging and forum lurking, it’s that regular reading is key to serious language progress!
My main goal is simply to make reading a daily habit, so I am going to be fairly chill about how much I do and what level of difficulty. Right now, I am planning to continue reading よつばと！ on the days I just need to read something without doing loads of look ups or trying to understand every single thing. I read 1-4 prior to the start of the reading challenge so I will be starting with 5.
My challenge book is コーヒーが冷たいうちに, which I also already started but only got a few pages in. This is my first attempt at reading a “real” book, so I have no idea how long it’ll take me to finish. If I do get through the whole thing during this challenge, that would be very cool, but it’s not a goal.
I’m also going to try start reading some NHK Easy articles as I don’t want to neglect non-fiction and getting to a level of being able to read local news somewhat fluently would be really helpful.
