kind of wanted to read more 風 but there wasn’t another good stopping point until right before the end of the chapter so i’ll do that tomorrow. manga is strange but i’m enjoying it well enough. it’s nice to read something simple for the first time in a while

Still treading water. Again played an hour or so of Persona, which might be taking time away, but it’s because I’m too tired to bother picking up a book. Speaking of which, both books currently aren’t feeling “hard”, well they’re actually feeling quite nice difficulty-wise, but they are feeling slow. I think it’s just down to being tired.
Anyway, today is last day of that, and from now till the start of next week I’ll have more time and energy to read. I want to finally get around to my stated goal of starting a higher level book this week, and it would be nice to finish something before Sunday, but I’m not sure that’s possible.
May 20
Finally more time to read! This week’s reading for the サバイバル・ゲーム! book, a half chapter of Silver Spoon, a little Flying Witch and a lot of SeaBed. It feels so good to read more!
May 19th
Up to page 512, 22 pages read.
In the direct opposite of the cute simple style these scrolls are super detailed with arhats descending on clouds to save the tormented souls from hell.

New day new drama. Still really interesting and throwing around a lot of different opinions today. Like how it gives light to different sides of the same coin though and how there never is one correct way (or my interpretation at least).
Even though I had to talk myself into reading today, after a few pages I did get sucked into it again. Sometimes not wanting to read or put in the work is just in our head really.

I started Apex by Mercedes Lackey today, and it feels so tiny. The first book was like 370 pages, the second 360, and then: bam! 290. I was expecting it to be the longest tbh, but instead it’s a baby.

finished that chapter of 風 and it went pretty smoothly! after a slightly technical opening anyway. 君が死ぬ夏に has reached a reveal much earlier than i was expecting, so i’m assuming there’s smth else going on here.
also that n1 vocab book, it’s advertised as ミニストーリーで覚える but that’s just untrue lol. the ‘stories’ are maybe two to three sentences long, and are often out of context statements about the relevant topic. some are conversations, but most aren’t. i get why they’ve done it like that, but there’s not a lot of ‘fun’ to be had here, as much as the book tries to convince you otherwise.

It’ll start July 1st (thread will be up probably 1 to 2 weeks before then I’m sure), they’re 3 months apart, and June will be the “off” month (but lots of people will carry on in this thread). But you can join whenever you want! Nothing stopping you from joining this one late.

Another chapter. Felix found a fellow Silent Witch fan! And it is interesting to know that he is indeed a magician. I’m really looking forward to the moment when Monica unravels her identity and they hopefully become real friends with common goals.

Finally got around to starting my hard book, which is 乳と卵 because it’s short. It is indeed really rather difficult, who would have expected such a shocking situation to come about. Still, enjoyable to read/decipher, good for my 関西弁, and will be done in a few days if I keep working through it.
Other stuff, tick tick ticking. Maybe half an hour of persona. Overall time spent on Japanese up very high today, but lots of that was watching/listening/past papers/textbooks, not as much explicit reading time.
