Did a relatively decent amount of textbook and anki and news reading at work, didn’t read so much at home. Started 変な絵, which I’m glad I have the physical version of rather than the kindle version like with 変な家. Also taking proper notes as I go along this time, which I’ve started doing with most books recently.
Tomorrow starts May, and thus novel reading week! Going to focus in heavily on novels this next week, putting aside manga and VN and other stuff mostly.

Finished Chapter 80 of デスノート 
It was rather hard today, lots of new words and lots of dictionary usage.
Edit: I’ve decided to play a game called “Mad Father” in Japanese. I had absolutely no expectations, and I was honestly thinking that I would get absolutely overwhelmed and I will quit soon after starting it. To my surprise, it actually went really well and I progressed quite a bit into the story. It’s probably easier than Death Note. I will play more of it tomorrow because it was a fun reading practice and fun experience in general
…but because I got so invested into the game, I forgot to do my WK reviews and now I have to do 80 reviews, it’s 0:30 right now and I have to wake up early for work. F me lmao

Two Chapters from あのこの子ども and one chapter ふらいんぐうぃっち yesterday. Will update with the nice format again when I get home and have acess to my computer again. Formatting on the phone just really isn’t for me.
Good progress though so far, a lot of big words and complicated grammar again in あのこの子土も which always makes me feel a bit left behind, but eventually it will get better (I hope) lol

That makes me feel better that my last post covered 8 days.
30/4 32 pages ふたつのスピカ (read week 6 - finished volume 2), 14 pages ホリミヤ (finished page 65, read next), 10 pages 10 minute scary stories (finished week 9)
A rare single day post for end of the month and as a cut-off as I’m now in Japan. Unsure how that’ll affect my reading as may be busy some days.
I was exhausted yesterday so didn’t think I’d read much, but took a while to sleep once I got on the plane for my overnight flight.
I just got to my hotel and trying to decide whether to have a nap - I feel ok, but I’m not sure I can push through till evening on two days of bad sleep.

- FINISHED APOTHECARY DIARIES 1! The most difficult book I’ve read so far, made possible with an instant-lookup dictionary, the official Eng translation for reference and a lot of time. Probably deeper reflections on my study log later but thoroughly enjoyed myself.
- Finished こういうのがいい6, most of the rest of the volume was shagging, though still with a surprising amount of dialogue.
- Read more Tsuredure Children on the train, will probably try and get the rest of this as one of my before-bed reads.

1st may 
two chapters of masquerade again. higashino keigo really loves his 'it was actually two [murders/etc.] reveals. i wonder if he’s done a ‘it was twins all along’ story. also finished mononobe and it was okay? some confusing panelling and time skips made it a less than smooth read. not desperate to read more but if more happened to fall in my lap i wouldn’t say no

Absolutely loved this chapter of 赤と青とエスキース. I also am aware that I wouldn’t have loved it as much if I’d read it 3 months ago, and had had to use the dictionary more. Still, amazing.

Up to page 90, 18 pages read
Common things that populate each layer of hell: angry oni with big spikey sticks, lots and lots of fire, lots and lots of sharp swords everywhere, mountains that like to move on their own to mush people, and hungry hungry worms with iron beaks.
There was also, at one of the lowest levels, a dog like creature whose description went on for about a whole page, it had 64 eyes which fire cannon balls of sorts, oxen heads (I think it said 18 in total) with flaming hairdos that sprouted out of the main dog head, claws everywhere, lashings of fire… I can’t remember all of it there was so much.
It was some sort of super amalgamation demon. Though I don’t remember a name ever being given for it. It did mention that to even try to describe this layer of hell would cause a living soul to explode in terror, so that may be why it remained nameless.

I read a total of 19 hours and 50 minutes, which is almost 40 minutes per day.
I managed to finish ユートロニカのこちら側!
On lazy days I read one chapter of 薬屋のひとりごと before bed, and I’ve been keeping up with the Advanced Book Club and I really want to continue reading!
I also managed to “revive” 理由 and 密やかな結晶 because I don’t want to leave them unfinished. And I love the writing style for both and I’m slowly finding my way back into the story (for 密やかな結晶 it was a bit easier than 理由 since I forgot some of the details of the case).
