It’s everywhere in Australia at the moment! Had it a few weeks ago (though I caught it in Fiji, I think it was from other Australians). It’s messing up our staffing at the moment. Hope you feel better soon!

Mostly did well apart from yesterday (was quite busy then couldn’t concentrate). Main achievement was finishing また,同じ夢を見ていた, which I found quite a bit harder than it’s Natively rating. Hopefully it’ll be easier now I’m back down to 2 books, since I’m starting I think 3 new manga clubs today :frowning_with_open_mouth:

Words
  • 正夢(まさゆめ) = dream that later comes true. Opposite is 逆夢(さかゆめ).
  • 素数(そすう) = prime number. To count when flustered.
  • 開闢(かいびゃく) = creation of the world; 天地(てんち)の開(ひら)け始(はじ)め. The sound… maybe it’s white (e.g. 白虎(びゃっこ), 百眼(びゃくがん)), but with 癖(くせ).
  • 気乗(きの)り (が) しない = not interested. Like 気乗(きの)り薄(うす).
  • 義憤(ぎふん) = righteous indignation. 義(ぎ)のために憤慨(ふんがい)すること.
  • 行間(ぎょうかん)を読(よ)む = to read between the lines. Not exactly 読(よ)む in context.
  • 色男(いろおとこ) = charming man. Mature version of 美少年(びしょうねん).
  • 見返(みかえ)り = repayment; things given in return
  • サイケ = psychedelic

As of this coming Friday, I’m going to be travelling for work until the end of the month, so I’m probably not going to get as much reading time as normal. I’m hoping to squeeze in some extra reading over the next few days so I don’t fall behind in too many bookclubs :crossed_fingers:

Thank you so much for organizing this! This challenge has helped me so much with actually reading Japanese! Of course, the fact that I really enjoy reading Island :desert_island: every day helps too. I plan to finish this challenge and continue in the next one!

Technically its next week’s book club reading not this week’s, but since I’m traveling next week and its the final chapter of the volume I went ahead and read Chapter 186 of Shadows House today.
Now to wait impatiently for volume 18…

I’m so glad to hear that. This challenge really helped me go from N4 to around N2, so it’s nice to hear other people are similarly benefiting now
