this follows the layout of my goals in my home post.
i did in fact manage to finish the main game of lost judgment! it took longer than if i’d played it in english, ofc, but i surprised myself with how okay i found it. i saved each word i looked up into a folder on my dictionary app and there were 561 which is pretty good!
i kept up my english reading!! i planned to read two books and and managed three, which is a big improvement over last time, especially as i did all of those in one month. hopefully i can keep up in the off month this time…
nhk articles are going well, i’m finding myself able to read longer ones more easily than before. i’m less happy with how my grammar entry reading went, i skimmed entries i should’ve gone into in more depth and didn’t always read all the example sentences.
i didn’t mention it in my posts anywhere, but i did actually do some translation practice this time. i did two nhk articles from this challenge, about two thirds of the character entries in the ryu ga gotoku anniversary book (something i’d started beforehand), plus a short story i found on tumblr. i’m glad i stuck with it! it’s pretty fun, once you get into it
what i finished
shogi book
3月のライオン vol 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9
沼すぎてもはや恋 vol 1
ウィッシュルーム (ds game)
revenant gun by yoon ha lee (eng book)
queer little nightmares (eng prose and poetry anthology)
men at arms by terry pratchett
I read all the level 0 and 1 graded readers on a site I linked above! However, I tried to read the last level 1 one, but there was no furigana so it was a bit hard for me.
Plus I saw the file said it was actually level 2 so I guess it was in the wrong place? So I read a graded reader from another site instead.
I’ll be using the last site I linked for the rest of this challenge! I have a bit more than a week to go. Congrats everyone who completed this challenge by the way!
I managed to read Chinese almost everyday, but underdid on Japanese goals.
So, I failed the goals, but I am not totally unsatisfied. Thinking about it, the number of series that I impressed and remembered matters more than the number of volumes itself. Still, I may challenge myself to read a longer series, and so, less series. I am so envious of people in Natively Activity.
Harta manga magazines, or just series on manga published in Harta, are interesting too, but I can’t reasonably catch up on those. Even if I manage to meet natives’ ability, I can’t have everything in the world, can I?
Also, half of the equation is setting a reasonable goal. Not that I totally know about my future myself. And also leaving a big space for chances and whims.
December 1 – Finished reading あの子の子ども. Also read 君と綴るうたかた.
December 2 – read about 60+ pages of ARIA (the masterpiece edition) and decided that it’s going to be it for today~ initially I wanted to finish off the whole volume but I’ve been super busy throughout the day, so I’ll have to continue during the week to finish it along with other manga I’ll be reading this month~ Also almost caught up with the Sakura bookclub again
I’m not ready to leave the Honzuki universe, so I’m reading the spinoff. Seems like it has 395 pages (usual Honzuki book length), so my estimate is it has a total of 207k characters. I don’t have the epub, so I can’t tell. All my progress stats for this book will be based on estimates.
Had a mini Readathon - thought I only had around ten episodes of 奥日光 to go so thought I’d read them & finish, but it turned out I had a lot more than that……however, had time this morning, was enjoying the story & decided to read the rest in one go. Will be starting on a new story tomorrow
