Won’t be reading any of my usual book this week, but will get Japanese reading practice from this instead:
There are furigana in Animal Crossing in japanese ???
やったー!
Rush on her switch to turn on the game
Ooh I play AC in Japanese too sometimes! Not every day, but tomorrow there’s gonna be a meteor shower so I’ll hop on for a bit. It’s cool how all the different villager types use different speech styles.
Yup and it’s one of those games where you can just change the language, don’t have to buy on the Japanese eShop, so it’s perfect!
7th jan
another pixiv kind of day (tho more than yesterday, so there’s that), looking like layton’s not gonna happen this weekend (again…) but next week will be better!
might try squashing it in during the week, we’ll see if that’s easier.

Back to my home post
Not a lot going on this week, I kinda got caught up in my planning frenzy. But! I had a lot of fun re-reading Kiki and definitely understood way more this time around, so I’m definitely keeping up this method.
Do I hear sushi ? Do you have more information where to get that reader?
Definitely something I want to read.
Happy (belated) Birthday @nyxqueenofshadows @lucylavelle (and anybody else who does not show their birthday here)!

I finally managed to finish 月の裏側 (mind you, it was still in the last week of the club
)! Here is my new plan:
The current focus is on 天気の子 in a small informal book club over at Natively.
And this is it for the time being, as I don’t plan to read anything in parallel but instead finish it off as fast as possible. See you on the other side! ![]()

I did one N5 story on bunpro, but the missing vocab makes it hard.
(I am missing 35 kanji’s form n5 looking at my data)
So because I had the energy I did a grammar story on Satori Reader.
Different with Chigau
Because you can lookup words easy even tho this is a grammar story, I found it easier.
Happy to be sprung on that new year deal. Thanks to the wonderful people that keep mentioning it.
The grammar rocks.
Looks at the clock, 10 PM jup still have time left for today haha. GL everyone!
How did you make such graph?
It’s just a Google Doc with the numbers in it and a diagram, really nothing fancy ![]()
Ooo thanks for mentioning! I’ve just signed up, well worth it for how good a resource it is.
Ah thanks for the insight.

Now that’s better. I finished week 4. If if if… if I can finish this book during next week that’d be absolutely amazing and according to plan ![]()
oh gosh, the speech style of Doppio Dropscythe is rubbing off on me
It’s a paper copy, I don’t think it exists online.
It’s the 2nd book of the 2nd volume of the 1st level of Japanese Graded Reader books.
Don’t know if this link will work for you : the volume I’m talking about.
On this page, you have a lot of free books with a lot which talk about food, if you want. This is the same kind of books with text, pictures and audio ![]()

| Title | Pages read | Progress | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 進撃の巨人 vol.4 | 0-100 | 100/192 | started |
| ふらいんぐうぃっち vol. 4 | 61-160 | 160/160 | finished |
| ハリー・ポッターと賢者の石 | 8-26 | 26/256 | reading |
I’ve read a lot this week, so proud of myself. And it is especially rewarding to encounter some of the N2 grammar point that I’m learning right now. I won’t have as much time coming weeks, but I’ll try have at least 30 mins of reading every day.
Tbh I think flying witch significantly jumps natively levels a few volumes in. But the ramp up is gentle enough I didn’t really notice until looking back

A lot of progress on 本好きの下剋上第一部3today, meaning I’m nearly 70% of the way through! There was a double page spread today on the making of paper that started me off with an “oh no” feeling, but it turned out to be reasonably self explanatory. e.g. most of the tools were illustrated and labeled, since they don’t expect the Japanese audience to know either. Though some of them were introduced as new, and with a diagram and kanji label, but no furigana, so is it just assumed a native audience will pick whatever a “default” reading for the kanji is? I’m not familiar enough with those kanji to know if there’s only one.

- 夜カフェ, another chapter. Feeling faster and faster, though still doubling back to check my work on each page after using @mitrac’s no-lookup first time through method.
- I, uh, accidentally sort of read and finished 僕の心のヤバイやつ 4 | L24 yesterday… probably only possible because it was a Sunday, and in terms of time I actually spent longer on it than earlier volumes, but it still feels kind of nice.
