Aah, there it is! @NicoleIsEnough
April 12th!
Today I read the ABBC assignment of Ruri Dragon, and also 2 chapters of Chi’s Sweet Home.
I’ve finished all my book club reading for this week, so I’m not sure what I’m going to read tomorrow. I still really want to try to read the light novels of Orange, while I still have the vocab and storyline of the manga in my head so maybe I’ll attempt that.
Day 12: April 12th
What did I read?: ペンギン・ハイウェイ
How much did I read?: 14 pages
How long did it take me?: 46 min
Woo! Didn’t drop the ball today xD I loved the little segment I read today, it was very entertaining - there were MANY penguins I adore this illustration of お姉さん because she looks like the queen of the penguins (which…I mean, she kind of is lol). I’m a little jealous, I would also like to be queen of the penguins
We finally found out where the river behind the school goes Also I learned a new expression that I found interesting - 瓜二つ. Two melons in a pod
Haven’t posted for 3 days but still been reading.
10/4 66 pages シャドーハウス, 22 pages Spy Family (finished mission 34)
11/4 10 pages シャドーハウス (finished volume 8), 6 pages 古見さん (finished this week’s reading), 2 pages 夜カフェ
12/4 10 pages シャドーハウス, 4 pages 夜カフェ
I did well on my final day of travel home. Bit less reading since I arrived home but plodding on.

二ノ国白き聖灰の女王・港町ビッキー二
Hm, I don’t have much to say today. I feel like I’m reading the dialogue more smoothly than before and more sentences make sense. While I have been enjoying playing since the beginning, playing doesn’t feel as mentally exhausting anymore. I usually put on a Japanese podcast or grammar lesson during the parts between dialogue so that I don’t feel rushed to go through the story and can enjoy playing.
Thank you for mentioning this. I immediately went and grabbed them up. I have the first couple of volumes in Japanese and now I’m probably going to binge this during the Tadoku challenge next month. Edit: Ah, the free trial ends on May 8th, so I’ll really have to binge.

Apparently today was Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) Day. Well, I’ve already got that down pat lol! (Although it’s “drop everything and read for 10-30 minutes,” not for most of the day, but.)
- アタック!! episode 34-36
- 52 pages of サマーサイダー, finishing ch 5 and reading all of ch 6, and leaving off on pg 312. Holy crap. I was wondering why the cover illustration for ch 5 was Miura and Mizu standing around a trapdoor with a crowbar. Not disappointed. Holy hell. Man, I wish I could finish the rest today; I’ve just got the 23-page epilogue left (though with the cliffhanger ch 6 ends on, it feels like it should be ch 7 lol)
Some vocab of note:
上等 (じょうとう) [interjection] bring it on!
藪蚊 (やぶか) [n.] striped mosquito; Aedes (genus of mosquitos)
原付 (げんつき) [n.] motorized two-wheeled vehicle with a displacement of less than 50cc; moped; scooter. Short for 原動機付自転車 (げんどうきつきじてんしゃ) (lit. “bicycle furnished with a motor”). The 付 in both can be spelled either with or without the okurigana, though without seems more common.
箍がはずれる (たががはずれる) [expression, 一] to let go; to become disorderly; to be scattered, to lose one’s self control; to become unrestrained and go to excess; to lose all restraint. 箍 are the hoops around a wooden barrel or bucket.
針の筵 (はりのむしろ) [n.] bed of nails; bed of thorns; bed of needles
コンパス [n.] legs; step; gait
カマをかける [expression, 一] to trick someone into revealing the truth; to ask a leading question

Couldn’t stop reading chainsaw man today.
チェンサーマン12 (Ch 101-103)
チェンサーマン13 (Ch 104-111)
They’re quick but fun reads! I always keep them on my Kindle just in case
April 11 & 12 Home Post
I continue to be less on my reading game than usual
that’s what happens when I get invested in games that aren’t in Japanese oh no yesterday I started scoping out the next section for the Zero Escape club, and today I just did some reading for class.
I thought the same So now that it reappeared, I can exchange it with @miwuc whenever I get to go to Paris the next time
L0 stories: ありますか?、赤ずきん、ばんごはん、ぼくはとってもいそがしい、かまくり、からすとみずさし、これなんに、ネズミみのすもう、にくじゃが、さむいひはおなべ、ひるごはん、おちゃをいれましょう、さるかに
I started replaying Super Mario 64 (but on Switch) and I decided I might as well play it in Japanese for the little text there is. I lasted until the first textbox, the hiragana font was stupidly hard to read (just all over the place), so I… restarted in English. xD
Days 11 and 12 Progress:
〆切前には百合が捗る 二巻 - 0.40% → 14.90%
スローループ 56話
Not too exciting of a couple of days as far as reading goes, unfortunately.
Getting to read my monthly Slow Loop chapter is always nice though. And chibi 恋 and ひより are both very cute.
Word of the Day: 波瀾万丈 - stormy and full of drama; many drastic events in the course of events. Composed of 波瀾 (disturbances and troubles) and 万丈 (congratulations!), I like the image of celebrating the end of one hell of a stormy and trouble journey.

こんにちは、皆さん。これは私の初めてのポーストです。
This may shock some people, but I have been learning Japanese on an off for around 15 years. This year, I am determined to improve my Kanji recognition and overall reading ability, so for this month I will be focusing on the 読み物 section of my current textbook, An Integrated Approach to Intermediate Japanese. I will post here each day about my progress or any interesting words/other observations that I have.
I have never read any Japanese manga, but this is also an opportunity to start. So, I am hoping to read the Vinland Saga manga either online or through paper copy. Those will be my two reading materials for this month. Good luck everyone! <3

13th april
i’ve taken the plunge, i’ve finally started 逆転検事! it’s going a lot smoother than i was expecting, i’m having a lot of fun. i’m about halfway through the first case, i think? took a while but i had to take a long break in the middle to do some other stuff so that might have prolonged how long it felt compared to how long it actually was.
words that stood out: 台無し (spoiled, messed up, coming to nothing), 被害者 (victim) and 被告人 (defendant) cos i read them too fast and confuse the two constantly, even they’ve only got one kanji in common and 権威 (authority, power, influence) which i believe turns up in wanikani but i’m mentioning cos the pixel font does not treat this word nicely.
Apr 13, Thu of Week 3 of Spring Q2 2023
I listened to this one first, two days ago and yesterday. I missed comprehending the beginning part.
Trying out 青空 in Browsers on a tablet web browser. Doesn’t have normal context menu, dictionary or even Google Translate. Only Google Search. (And I can’t choose my search engine. Google, Search or not, is always auto-login.)
- うらら迷路帖 Vol.6 (58-100%)
Back to sleep again, but 合宿.
- うたわれるもの : 二人の白皇
Words of the day
- まずまず = passable; not so bad. While ますます is increasingly (益々).
- むざむざ = without resistance; easily

- なれっこ = getting used to; getting accustomed to = 慣れっこ

- はためく = to flutter in the wind. Flapping ばたばた in the wind. Related words include ひらめく, 翻る and 靡く.
- ハモる = to say the same thing in unison. From ハーモニー (= harmony).
- ほっぽり出す = to throw out = 放り出す.
- 索る = to hunt down. Has Furigana. From 穴 + 刳る. Maybe not so important, but I find this a fun word not in Jisho / JMdict.
- おびき出す = to lure someone out = 誘き出す
- 疎ましい = unpleasant; disgusting. Feels like some ways like 疎む / 疎い, but I made a wrong guess.
- 実しやか = seems plausible

- 出店 = a food stall. Paired with 屋台 in context.
- 櫓 = a watchtower. Has Furigana.

千里眼 = clairvoyance; second sight.
- 千里 is thousand Li (0.5 km). I thought of 千里馬.
- There is also 万里 from 万里の長城 (= the Great Wall of China).
-
玉の輿 = a palanquin with treasure. From 玉の輿に乗る = to marry into a family of a rank.
- The second Kanji in 神輿.

I wanted to read よつばと today but for some reason mokuro doesnt work on this device (maybe because I changed the hard drive in my computer?). super upset about that because I was tired and I had a laid-out plan for reading sighh, migth have to look into it tomorow.
Anyways, for today, I read two chapters from Sakura and Suzuki. It was short, but it did have some difficult words.
Ooooh! Hope you have fun! Not too huge on GK1 but GK2 might easily be my favorite game in the franchise (which is a surprise considering Shuu Takumi’s non-involvement in the game)
