SO APPARENTLY KOUTAROU’S DAD IS NOT DEAD OR STRANDED ON A DESERT ISLAND SO THAT’S GOOD I GUESS but also it’s the 21st century sir, call your family
Although this chapter seems to pretty solidly confirm the above, I still have conspiracy theories :see_no_evil: like what if the grandma is just writing the letters so that Koutarou and his mom won’t be sad, how heartbreaking would that be (my brain just likes to make everything sad, I think, I don’t think this manga would do that to me)

Anyway, I finished off the challenge by finishing off this volume :tada: This challenge truly flew by, congrats to everyone who made it this far! In an unexpected turn of events, I read マグメル深海水族館 and pretty much nothing else :joy: But I have enjoyed these volumes and will definitely continue the series at some point. That point…will not be now, though, because I actually have an announcement to make. Oh god, that sounds so serious, why does it sound serious, gomen :see_no_evil:

Those of you who have been around for a while have almost certainly heard me complaining about work and how everything is terrible because people keep on leaving. Well…the streak continues and I’m mentally preparing myself to hate my life from January through mid-February at least (hopefully not longer than that but um, I’m finding that you kind of never know :upside_down_face: there’s a high chance that that period will be extended). Anyway, my point in saying this is that I’m trying to preemptively offload everything that is not absolutely necessary to do during that time period so as to give myself decompression space and protect my own mental health as much as possible. I’m hoping I can somehow avoid losing half a year to being burnt out again, good luck to me there.

After some careful consideration, I have decided that I will not be participating in the next Read Every Day Challenge (which would take place in January-February). I just don’t see any scenario where I’ll have the mental bandwidth to do that, and it’ll only make me feel worse to say I’ll try only to inevitably fail. If people would like me to, I can put up a new thread at the beginning of January and let y’all take it from there, but I feel like it would be better if someone else who can be more involved with the challenge could take up hosting it. It’s really been a pleasure and a privilege to be your reading challenge host these past 2 years, but it feels like it may be time to pass the torch. If anyone’s interested in taking over, let me know - it’s really not too difficult (you can copy pretty much everything from previous threads, if formatting worries you  ), and it’s really a lovely group to be around

God, the way getting ready for January-February feels like preparing to go into my actual grave :upside_down_face: I mean yes, technically, I will be alive after that, but in what state
