finally finished vol 12 of jjk! it’s funny that that’s the one that took me so long, given that it’s probably the least text-heavy one so far but it did have a load of blood-specific terms. didn’t start vol 13 yet, i’ll do that tomorrow.
didn’t do any translation practice (again…) but did read a couple of nhk articles (this one, this one, and sort of this one). also started watching kurohyou 2 (阿修羅編 is the subtitle this time) which so far seems to be less mystery-focused but the characters seem fun. weird hearing tatsuya with a different voice actor but ig he is older now.

so it opens on an arena fight scene in vegas, so ofc the characters (minus tatsuya) speak english with japanese subtitles (and are voiced by native speakers). there’s a bit where the announcer character describes tatsuya as a ‘tenacious little bastard’ in the english audio but the subtitles say イエローモンキー (blurred just in case cos it’s a slur) which feels a bit strong to me??? the tone of ‘tenacious little bastard’ did not feel nearly that derogatory imo.
words that stood out:
呪術廻戦：新星 (nova) and by extension 超新星 (supernova), ジリ貧 (situation gradually getting worse and worse)
クロヒョウ：やーさん (yakuza, gangster. osaka-ben, tho tatsuya uses this and he’s from tokyo)
other: 錦秋 (autumn with leaves as beautiful as brocade)
