Reactions instead of likes?

It was fun at first, but now that it has been a few days I much prefer the simple like system.

Agreed. The formatting being messy, coupled with the poor interaction it has with the mobile version of the site (the amount of times I accidentally pull up the react menu on a post because it thinks a scroll is a hover or something is frustrating because I am often accidentally taking away likes I have given), has pushed me from being ambivalent to not liking it at all.

If implementing a full react system is something that they really feel needs done, they ought to roll it back for now and correct the problems with the system before putting it into place, imo.

Just for fun I prefer to be ambiguous on the forums, though I have told a handful of people. I don’t care which pronouns people use for me

I’ve just been using @Kumirei as your pronoun

If you don’t like Campfire, we’ll create Campfire in this thread

The containment walls have breached; the POLL thread can no longer hold everyone back.

Obviously you don’t, since “your” is a possessive pronoun and you did not use @Kumirei to replace that pronoun.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. We’re now back to the usual likes.

Oh by the way would you mind fixing the usual likes now that they are back? ^^

The bug goes like this: When I like a post, the heart goes red and the counter increases, but when the next person likes the same post, the heart turns white again for me. My like is still there, but I don’t realize because the heart is white. So when I then click on the white heart (because I want to like the post and I think that I haven’t done it yet), I get the very unhelpful error message “You are not permitted to view the requested resource.” - this actually means that I cannot change my like because it’s already a few minutes old…
If I reload the page, the hearts turn red again for those posts that I liked.

That’s a Discourse bug, which supposedly has been fixed, but we’re running on a 2.5 week old version of Discourse for a some reason. I asked them to update us to latest so this bug would be fixed, but I never got a response…

@JenK Has WaniKani changed the deployment cadence for the forums so that it deploys less often? Just want to check before I message the Discourse staff more directly to get us updated.

Awesome, that is a relief. Though, it seems I have to go like all the posts I had reactions on

That would be nice to be fixed, for sure.

Also this:

Recently started happening, where some of the like notifications are broken for some reason. I believe others were having the issues before; it only started happening on my end right after the switch back to regular likes (which, thank you! Definitely happy for that react menu to be gone.)

There is something comforting about being back to the normal likes, I’m not sure if that is just me being a weirdo or what lmao.

Thank you! I much prefer this way. All the same, thanks for the continued efforts to improve the place :slightly_smiling_face:

Those are the notifications from the reactions, but since they don’t exist anymore it shows like that. Probably hard to fix, unless they retroactively convert them in the database to normal likes. Or delete them.

That is initially what I thought as well, so I just ignored it, since the first one showed up on a post that would have originally had reactions, but the most recent one showed up on a comment that was made after the reactions were removed, so the only possible reactions should have been a normal like.

Either way, so long as it’s just some weird holdout and the system doesn’t continue to do it, doesn’t bother me any!
