Reactions instead of likes?

Unsarcastically, there are already choices. but not of Likert scale

Nah, that doesn’t change the size of the flag.

Seriously speaking, for desktop (laptop / PC), mouse over will show the Liking choices? It can get annoying IMO. (On mobile, touch holding needs to be deliberately done.)

So far, I can’t see options (e.g. in Preferences) to change this.

Now this is just confusing.

Old style if only hearts.

New style if other reactions were given. Can see list of hearts specifically from the old behavior (e.g. tapping the triple dot), but can also see all the reactions in a different way, making the two lists overlap.

Combining that with multiple issues on mobile specifically, it really feels like this is only a beta (or maybe even alpha) feature. Way too many design issues for prime time…

The position of the counters also seems to shift if at least one reaction has been given. On my PC, this is how it looks like when there are no reactions:

And this is with a reaction:

It seems to suddenly left-align if a reaction is involved. It does feel like it’s not a full-fledged feature but more like a plugin that awkwardly modifies likes to fit them in.

You figured out the secret. I’m pretty sure it was a plugin that they wanted to fully integrate (optionally) into the platform. You should have seen it six months ago before they spent some time working on it.

I also just noticed that the notifications you get change when reactions are involved, but in this case they only change if you only have reactions, and the moment you get at least one normal like the notification reverts back to the normal like notification, but it instead shows all reactions as if they were likes in that case. And if you then get a reaction after that, it shows the reaction notification again, but this time likes are removed. I don’t know if this is intended behavior, but it’s still confusing.

I noticed they did update it a bit since the last time it was enabled on the forum here, so I assume they’re still working on it. It still feels like a work in progress for now though.

I actually get the options if I just click on the heart sometimes, I don’t know if I’m going insane.

Wait, I also realized something else. It seems like only regular likes count towards getting the “nice reply” badge (and above).
That doesn’t really matter much, but it’s annoying nonetheless.

I lost the reply button. :joy:

I also had a duplicate notification earlier. Both were for likes (neither had the different reaction icon), but both went to the same post. One notification was for a single like and the other for two, but the post had three likes.

Not opposed to this, but would prefer bright colors or nothing over black and white. Also, can they be right-aligned to be over where the heart is? In fact, can the current heart button be replaced so that clicking on any reaction brings up the “react to” options instead of the list of people giving them (which you already get by hovering over them)?

But what if someone has 9  and I want to give a  but then they’ll miss out on the badge.

This is too much power for me, or any one person, to have. Take it awaaaaayyyy . . . . :crying_cat_face:

I doubt any of that can be customized right now. You’d have to reach out to Discourse and suggest those changes to the design.

Depending on website’s design, custom CSS might be injectable via template engine.

Custom CSS? WK has so far refused to implement dark mode, do you think they will create custom CSS for the community forum?

Wait, maybe you can react twice! Or is @plantron haxxoring the forum?

Well, numbers do not add up, so I guess only one of those reactions is actually counted.

This rollout is a bit on the scuffed side, eh?
