Race to Your Goal! December 2020 JLPT

Are you going to do it for any particular purpose (besides being Leebo?) like pitch accent or something?

Edit: I am retroactively setting my own join date to March 3rd, 8:57am.

Yeah, i’m pretty sure I’ll not remember some of these words in like a year or so.
I’m sure I’ll pick them up when I use them more often. But then obviously they will get to burn eventually again anyway.

I might, instead of resetting completely, just go through all the levels one by one and just manually reset each item I don’t remember.
That way I can just do 2 or 3 levels at once.
Not going to rush it though.

Also probably going to add pitch accent. Because that seems important.

Leveled up again, been a while.

Have about 120 lessons to tackle.

Do them all in one sitting, or like… listen to the voice on the other shoulder…

Nah, I don’t do them in one go. I cut a slice every time I have room. First all the unlocked vocab, then radicals, then kanji.

I keep my apprentice pile under a 100 items.

Figured I should raise my head here again after such a long absence. Not sure how realistic my original goal of sixty is now given my 100+ days on level 22 :weary: My stellar pace prior to and surprisingly during the Christmas period was completely destroyed by the return to work after the New Year and other bits of life that decided to get in the way. I’m working on getting my review pile down now so hopefully I’ll be back on the leveling ladder with you all again soon :persevere:
Hope everyone else is still going strong too! Don’t eat all the cake before I arrive okay

Hi !

I want to aim for N3 in December 2030 2020, If I can keep this pace and maybe improve a bit, I should be level 35 or near it at this time. But I don’t really want to pass on the vocabulary !

I will probably start Bunpro too and I am taking Japanese course on the side.

Posting for accountability ! If I can get to this, I’ll use the annual promotion to get the lifetime membership hĆ©hĆ©.

First of all welcome to the Community!

2030? I get it, setting too high goals is demoralizing. But, honestly, giving yourself 10 years seems excessive.

I support this :+1: (Don’t forget to use the WK mode to hide furigana if you do)

If you decide you want to race for the 2020 JLPT tell us and we’ll add you to the leaderboard. (You’ll eventually be considered a member and be able to modify it yourself.) By the way, I’m aiming for the N3 as well so, if you are ok with shape-shifting horses we can race together

Oupsi.

Yup, thanks for the tips ! I was gonna wait to up level 10 before Bunpro but I will probably peek a boo sonner. :stuck_out_tongue:

I already added myself on the leaderboard, even if I thought I should ne be able to do that because I don’t have the ā€œMemberā€ badge yet.
You are already waaaaaay ahead of me but hell yeah I’m in !

I started it when I was around 6 as well, and there’s no such thing as too early. It’s also good practice because a lot of words will come up in the sentences. I suggest you hide the English translation in the option: you can guess the reading, play the audio/ show furigana, guess the meaning and then unveil the English sentence; at least it’s how I do it. It’s good reading practice for those of us who haven’t started reading yet.

If you start it make sure to learn a lot of the points right from the start. The first 30/40 points should be quite easy unless you are totally starting from zero. And doing almost all N5 points in the 30 days trial period should give you a good idea whether it works for you or not. (For the price I thought one year was worth it)

It can be brutal. The important thing is to brush off and pick yourself up again. Ganbare!

Yes, other ā€œbasicā€ users have been able to add themselves too. I think something may have changed in the forum rules.

Welcome to the race! Glad to have you!

Update #2 , the expedition in Purgatory continues:

Day 8 of Vocab Purgatory, right after landing on level 20

Day 15 of Vocab Purgatory, right before leaving level 20 for good

day15_preLevelUp

I managed to do ~50 lessons per day this week.
I also entered the Death levels, so Purgatory seems to fit nicely

Putting the number of Apprentice items aside, I’m starting to get some reviews too (because of Guru filling up again). So this week may be the hardest. And it already felt like I was doing consecutive fast levels…

But I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I also noticed an incredible improvement in my ability to read/guess the context sentences so my morale is high (I wasn’t expecting anything before level ~40)
Planning to ram through the remaining 420 lessons this week.

Holy shit. That’s a lot of Lessons.

You used the reorganization script to level up faster but didn’t really do vocab lesson ?
It’s pretty nice that you manager to still do lesson everyday, congrats !

Btw : What’s your script to show the number of items par level (Apprentice I, II, III, IV, etc) ? Thanks !

Exactly what I did
There’s a good reason though, so I’m fine with it… I’ll take my punishment :joy:

Not mine, it’s this one by seanblue:

Hello, I’ve added myself to the list.

I am aiming for the N3 JLPT in December 2020. At my average pace of 9 days 10 hours, I will hit level 35 by this November. Hopefully I’ll be ready for the N3 at that point!

I’ve done some kanji/grammar study outside of WK (Duolingo, italki) so some of the stuff that I’m going through right now is largely review and putting in the SRS work. Extra studying never hurts though, right?

I added you on my leaderboard, we got the same goal !

I’ll start Bunpro on monday, when I should hit 6 so I totally agree, more studying never hurts !
