Race to Your Goal! December 2020 JLPT

I don’t know what types of games you are into but I’m currently playing Monster Hunter World which offers Japanese language support. You can also change it so that only the voice is in Japanese and the text remains in English. Maybe its something to check out if your into games like it.

Update:

Day 1 (right after leveling up)

Explanation

You can see 50+ new leeches in the dashboard. Of all those 300 reviews, almost half were Kanji, mostly from the levels without vocabulary (lv 14-15-16-17-18). They didn’t go too well. (barely 70% in the last session) Vocabulary is more important than I thought for reinforcing…
I adopted a strategy: skipping those kanji for the rest of the week. (After finishing lv 13 vocab.) I went over the level 14 kanji again and then did the lv 14 vocab. Same thing for lv 15. (not yet finished…) I’m adding those kanji to the review queue level by level.

Day 8: today, before leveling up again

In short, I did what I could. Thought I could have done better. Also my previous calculation (50 vocab per day) was wrong. I had forgotten about the obligatory 20 vocab per day of the current level
Since I’d have to do ~80-90 vocab per day to reach the old goal, I decided to do my best and get it down to ~200 lessons instead of 0.

Curiosity: my Graduation Day has been pretty much cancelled (due to the virus). Proclamation through Skype (?) and everything. All because of the media making everyone panic…

New Update in 7 days.

That’s a great suggestion! I’m not so into action games, but something with Japanese audio would be really great. When I visit home I sometimes like to play Dead or Alive with my brother and it’s funny whenever I can catch what some of the characters say before and after each fight.

Level up!

Also, why is level 14 so chill hahahahaha? I love that!

After level 13 there never more than 8 radicals a lesson level!

And it only goes down from there! After Level 50, there’s never more than 2 radicals a level…

But at that point you “have” to do almost 200 lessons in less than four days
Radicals are the easy and enjoyable part of leveling up…

Edit: less “enjoyable” if you don’t have lifetime or are trying to break all records, since they act as a brake…

I thought I had it under control, had my reviews at 0 for a week or more. Then get busy for a few days and it’s back up at 200. Now it’s this.

This is seriously tiring.

Levelled up to 19, 8 days 13 hours. Thought it was going to longer, been ill this week so delays doing reviews and made a few errors. Will have to see how I go for the next one.

Man, I’ve hit kind of a slump. I still finish all reviews most days (and do some reviews every day), but I just can’t find the motivation to do new lessons. Still, I wake up to 200 or more reviews every day. Maybe I just need to stay on this level and tread water for a bit until I have my apprentice and guru items under control.

Another month gone by. This is my overview.
As you can see, I’ve been slacking on Iknow vocabulary.
This is because it’s the first thing I drop when I can’t find the time to do all study.
This month that was because my daughter got sick the week before she was off from school a week. So that’s half a month of not being able to do anything.
Wanikani on the other hand, keeps a steady rise. Very pleased with that.
Either way, it’s crossed the orange line, and they’ll grow apart a lot unless I get my vocabulary back on track.
Kid goes back to school tomorrow, here’s hoping she doesn’t catch another virus.

30! That feel like a big one. Took 10 days which seems like the new normal now that I’m out of doing the ones from my reset last year.

I think nothing wrong with treading water. I’d just started level 18 when I got sick last week, and barely did any new lessons for a bit…I had zero motivation. May help just to get your review count down a bit.

It was actually a good feeling when I realised my apprentice count was the lowest it’s been in weeks!

right, 20 is too much. I struggle with remembering. That’s not helping.
back to 15 it is.

Level Up! Level 26 in 8 days 23 hours.

Getting to Level 60 by December is going to be a close-run thing!

Oh man, me too. I’m in exactly the same boat–it’s very frustrating and boring, but I think I have about 50 leeches that I’m trying to just. get. rid. of.

Have you reset already? I would advise you to just stay on this level, don’t do any lessons and wait until you’re feeling comfortable with your reviews again.

Pretty sure they meant “lessons per day” but like it was written so out of context that I don’t blame you.

PS: watch me be wrong lol

Oh man I think you’re right! Makes more sense with the way it was written.

lol, sorry for the confusion. I meant that I was doing 20 lessons per day and it was too much to remember.
Which is why I’m doing 15 a day now. It’s easier now.

I’m not going to reset at all until I reach that sweet 60. Then I’ll sit there for a while, relaxing and enjoying other means of study alongside wanikani reviews only. Then when studying changes to just using more often in life, aka in reading, listening etc, I’ll reset and go through all 60 levels again.
