Question about kanji enter reading

Hi, why the reading of this kanji is にゅう instead of only にゅ? There are more readings similar to this but I guess it’ll be the same reason for all of them.

Thanks!

にゅう and にゅ are not the same – にゅう is longer

This might help:

Yeah I come from there, the sound sample seemed long enough for me haha. So the kanji has a long u at the end, doesn’t it?

Yes, it does. Likewise, you would find kanji that read じょう and kanji that read じょ…
This is just something you would have to memorize. If this sounds discouraging – don’t worry, you would soon get used to it.

In any case, best of luck with your studies! wricat

Thank you very much! I’m having a blast learning Japanese so far but it looks like it’ll become almost a nightmare to study

Studying Japanese is like a roller coaster. There are times you’d feel like you’re almost there and times you’d feel like you are getting nowhere… The key is to make yourself a daily routine and keep doing it regardless of how you feel. As long as you keep studying every day, even for an hour, it would bring the results!
