The twists are coming along very nicely at the moment! Ray had put up a good fight but he totally looked like he was oni-food. That sudden snatch and rescue was very nicely timed.
Wow, some serious plot exposition this week! Like often with this book, we’ve had some answers but leaves a lot more questions. If earth split into oni part and human part 1000 years ago, why is there so much modern culture and technology in Gracefield House? From what I understand we are indeed in the year 2045, and the pictures of people in the old world from 1000 years ago certainly look fairly medieval. Much more to be revealed yet…
We also understand the title of the manga a bit more now!
And finally - there are thousands of farms. Presumably a lot of them not as nice to live in as Gracefield House. Emma has a lot of children to save…
We’ve learned quite a bit about the world so far this volume, and this week was particularly interesting to learn about グプナ(儀程). The blood sucking plant sounds like it is found fairly widely and is called ヴィダ (sounds to me like vida Spanish for “life”). Interesting that while the ceremony looked horrific when performed on the children, it is actually a form of gratitude to god for our provisions. Also, that the ceremony serves a practical purpose in removing the blood too.
Unexpected twist there with Sonju. He wants the kids to survive so he can hunt their wild descendants! He makes a great face while thinking about a belly full of human…
Interesting how Mujika handed over the amulet and gave her extra information (七つの壁を探しなさい) secretly so that Sonju wouldn’t know.
Yeah, I was shocked when I got to that twist in the anime.
Chapter 51
Speaking of the anime, we still haven’t hit the point where it deviates away from the manga story. I’m interested to see when it happens.
I actually don’t remember if Mújica (my phone auto completed that. Is that a real name???) gave Ema an amulet in the anime. So maybe it already has. But I mean deviates in a big way.
Big finish to the volume! I was hoping there would be some secret entrance and it was cool when they found it! And now so much more I want to know about the secret base and the mysterious man…
Here it is! When I was watching The Promised Neverland anime, Crunchyroll still had comments, and manga readers were in an uproar over a character just being completely missing. That was the first sign that all was not well with the second season.
This character was just poof! Not there in the anime. He seems like he’ll be very important to the plot. I can’t wait to read more!
I’ve also watched the anime but it was a few years ago and I really don’t remember much after this point. Season 2 is 13 episodes long, and we have covered the first 3 or so episodes so far. Amazing that we are only 6 volumes in, but the anime is going to wrap up the next 14 volumes in just 10 episodes.
