That was an intense chapter - the goodbye was very sad. This sort of moment would be very intense in any story, but seems much more so given he’s only 11 or 12 years old.
I’m really keen to know what Norman was confronted with, because it doesn’t seem to be what he expected. My question at this point is, does he actually die??
I feel like he will get recruited to be a caretaker, it would make sense for the smartest children to be saved for that so that they raise smarter/tastier food. Also makes sense story-wise so that he isn’t just killed off, but it would also make sense to kill him off to raise the stakes even higher.
Very emotional chapter again. I don’t think it was clear whether Emma pushed the button or whether Norman realised in time what she was about to do and stopped her.
@Cathm2 wanted to know if Norman actually dies - we are no clearer yet after the end of that chapter!! But that “え” reaction at the end - he saw something that surprised him!
I think Isabella’s absolute confidence that she has everything under control at the start of the chapter, makes her downfall even more sweet. But the moment she finds the ear on the floor was the real highlight for me.
Poor Ray - always in control, and suddenly finding everyone else in charge and him just following along. Having resigned himself to death, and even dropped the match - to find himself pulled back into life, and with a new hope and a new plan - he looks absolutely stunned!
