I was staying on top of my daily reviews until last month, when a combination of health, work, and family circumstances prevented me from getting back to Wanikani, even to simply activate Vacation Mode.
Now I’m 500+ reviews under, and after 20 or so, I’m doing a terrible job (~50% correct).
Is there a way to stop reviews from piling up so that I can catch up and get this chunk of 500+ reviews done, and then start things back up again?
I tried Vacation Mode, but that literally locks you out of doing any reviews, which is unfortunate.
Never done it before but from what I read here is that people do their reviews and then put on vacation mode. then when you want to continue you just disable vacation mode and when you are finished you enable it again.

The general trick is to do what @Nafets mentioned – do a chunk of reviews and then turn vacation mode on until your next review chunk, repeat until the number is back down. That way you won’t get new reviews while working on the old ones. I’m notorious for letting my reviews build up to 1,000+ but I like to use Reorder Omega to prioritize my items by newest first, so I’ll continue leveling up while I slowly blast away at the wall of older items.
